Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone went to Wilson Tech(western boces) for the LPN program?

I took the entranceexam there...Passed but couldn't attend because of the travel....heard its a good program and they have LPN to RN bridge with other schools.....which makes it easier for u to go for the RN.

Hi better me

I might apply to boces for the march 2009 program. Still getting informed about the school. What did u mean when you said that you couldn't attend because of the travel? Which test did u take TEAS or NET? Also, if u don't mind me asking which school did you finally attend?

I live in Brooklyn, so it was a two hour ride there maybe more. I ended up going to New Jersey which was about 45 min less in travel. I'm now going non-traditional for my RN with Excelsior College.

Go ahead and apply it's a great program...and I think I took NET can't remember at this point I took four entrance exams that year.

Thank you for your quick response. That's one problem I have with it too. I live in Brooklyn and google map shows an 1h 12 mns in distance. I want to start quickly that's why i wanted to take it anyway but my original choice was VEEB which is 32 mns away from me but starts in sep 09.

Congratulations on your rn studies!

Boces is extremely far. I live in Brooklyn and didn't even want to go there if Veeb didn't accept me. Do you drive? If not, many Veeb students carpool. Sorry, I know nothing about Boces besides it being far. Did you try Brooklyn adult Learning Center? Look into Monroe in the Bronx. I hear their program starts in January.

Thanks akanini. I have read all your post on the veeb thread. I can tell you that you helped me get more excited about veeb. I looked up monroe but it seems that I'll have to pay partial toll everyday to get there and with traffic it's over an hour drive.

I have my own car. I think I'll wait for veeb. I will call them on january.

Have you started to work already? r u preparing for the license exam?

Like you it's my 1st time in the health career. I have a BA in french law from my birth country; since it's way different from US law it it will be too long to go through this field again so I decided on lpn then rn.

I have a 10 mth old and am a stay at home mom for now. My plan is to put her in a day care till 6 pm M-F while I go to school and study. Hopefully I'll be able to manage that.

I'm studying and taking Veeb's review course. So besides that, I'm a bum right now. This is hard because I can't stand not doing anything constructive with myself. I need to start working ASAP. I didn't know Monroe was that far. I always advice to have a back up plan. So what for Veeb but also try somewhere else. The good thing is that you can take Veebs test early next year and make a decision from there. Best of luck!

First there are 3 programs

Part time day 2-school years Sept-June Sept-June- this a Great program for moms or people who want summers off= class is from 9-1ish I think

Part time night starting in Sept or March about 10 months 6pm-10pmish no fridays every other Sat.

Then the program I am in the acelerated day program 13 months March-April

8:30-300ish class room

8:00-3:00ish clinical

Tuttion I thoink now is 15 thousand or 15,50

You take the NET test to get in

There were a lot of people taking the test

I took a prep class, most people do not

The you get a letter inviting you for an interview & at that time you must send high school transcripts & 3 refrences

Our class started with 38 students we are down to 19

I really like my teachers, we did have one leave on us

It is a very tough school and most people in my class went to collage before I did not and they said Boces is much tougher

You can only be out a total of 2 times the first level, 1 in level 2 and 1 in level 3

There is finatial aid and loans you can get

I hope I helped

Hey Guys,

How was the prep exam? easy or hard? Is it basic math and english? What book do you recommend to study from?
