Hello,
I am really close to my senior year of nursing school and looking to relocate to Wilmington when I finish. I am a huge planner and want to get as much as I can prepared before we move. I understand the pay is pretty low for the area, but after extensive searches can not find out the current pay rate for a new grad. Despite the low wage, this is still my preferred area because of my support in the area. I have two daughters who will be in grade school so more than likely we will be living outside of Wilmington in Hampstead.
Anyone who wants to email me instead my email is [email protected] I just really want to know more about the careers available in the area.
Thanks!

I just accepted a new grad position and start in a couple months. New grads are starting at $22.11/hr. Differentials are around $4 for night and $3.50 for weekends.
Thanks for responding! I appreciate it. Congrats on getting the new grad position! Does it start over the summer?
this year they had a smaller group that was hired in Oct/Nov and just started this past Feb. The group I am in was just interviewed in March and starts July 18.
When you are in your last semester just check the website daily for when it opens. This year they started the process about 6 weeks earlier than last year. Opened early Jan and the priority deadline was Feb 1.
Good luck with the rest of school.

Could you give us any tips or insight on the interview process? I applied for the Summer 2017 residency and am waiting to hear back now (:

If you met the Feb 1 priority deadline with the video interview and application and all is the same as last year you should expect to hear from the departments you put as your top 3 around beginning of March. Generally you will interview with a few managers and then do a peer interview with a few nurses from the floor. Both have set questions they ask you and then basically grade you on a points system. They use behavior based questions so I would strongly recommend that you formulate some scenarios from your previous work experience or even your clinical experience beforehand. This way you can apply your answer to most questions with just a few tweeks that address the specific question.
If you have specific questions I might be able to help with feel free to ask. Good Luck with finishing up school and with the job search.
Hmm, doesn't sound too intimidating. I'm hoping with my clinical and work experiences I'll be able to answer their questions pretty well. Just hope I get offered a position *ahh* Thanks for your input!

I meant to ask in which department did you get offered a position? Do you like working there so far (overall)?
I was offered interviews in all 3 of my choices and was offered a position in my 1st two choices so I withdrew from the 3rd interview. Got job offers from Cardiac as well as the OR. I accepted a position in the OR.
From my point of view they have been very supportive of new grads and have given me the time and training to be successful. I have a friend who got a position in the ICU and he also feels they have done a really good job making sure the new grads have the resources and mentors to help them succeed. It has been a positive experience for me and am happy working at NHRMC.
That's great to hear! (Especially since I put ICU as my first choice) I know that it's particularly hard to get into as a new grad but I'm remaining positive. I was able to meet a lady that worked for the Foundation one afternoon, and she spoke highly of the facility as well. I received an email today stating that the employment process has begun, so I'm pretty stoked about hearing back soon.

Do you remember how long it was after you submitted your references that you heard back from HR?
I heard back around 25th of Feb for one of my choices. Each dept was at a different time. I know my buddy only heard mid March for ICU and then they interviewed really late.
