Does anyone know if NSO will deny student nurse Liability Insurance if I was convicted of a DUI in 2009?

I've never known for NSO to conduct criminal background checks prior to issuing Liability Insurance policies.

If I were you, I'd check directly with the company and be sure you provide them with all the info they want to make a decision about covering you. The way most insurance companies operate, if you ever need to use the coverage and they can show that you withheld pertinent information or otherwise weren't completely honest with them up front, they can refuse to cover you (that's usually in the "fine print" of the policy somewhere).

Did you check with your BON about the licensure process with a convicted DUI?

Seconded - you shouldn't be worrying about NSO; you should be worrying about whether you're wasting your time and money on a professional program you can't get licensed for.

It varies by state. There are other carriers if your school permits such as pro liability. But you should also be concerned about background checks for clinical sites and ultimately the board of nursing. You could also check the nursing license with a criminal history on this site under careers. But, I suppose yes it is possible to be denied if your state 's dept of banking and insurance requires potential insurers to inquire about previous convictions.
