:balloons: Hi everyone!! First post here, but not new to lurking. I'm finally ready to get started with Excelsior so I can one day earn at least a percentage of what I'm really worth! :lol2: :lol2: I got an AWESOME deal on all of the College Network NC books yesterday on Ebay. My question is this: if I use the CN books, Lisa's notes, and the Excelsior practice exams will that be enough to ace the exams and pass the NCLEX? I also bought the Ethics, Religion, and Sociology CN books as part of the same package on Ebay and will try to Clep those tests. But for the NC tests, should I buy anything else? Thanks in advance for your help!

I second the above. All I used was the content guides and the online practice tests as well. I got mostly A's and a couple of B's. Good enough for me! Of course, people learn differently, so you may find the structure of the TCN books easier (I looked at one once and thought it was boring - I like to jump around a lot in a textbook, not study in a linear way).

To answer your question: It's my understanding that those outside publisher guides have all you need to study for an exam, so you will not need to purchase the text books that Excelsior recommends. That being said, you won't know if it is working for you until you take your first exam. The first was the worst!!! Even with the practice tests online through Excelsior (I usually scored in the 60-70's on those, though the grades on the real exam were better), I felt like I failed the first test until I got the result. Then, I got in a groove and knew what to expect... each exam got easier. I woud start simple and "accessorize" your study materials if needed later. Good luck!

:) Good luck Junkie, I have one of the TCN books, NC-1 ( from mom at a yard sale for 2.00) read the first few pages and found it soo boring.

I am using my books from LPN school and I have several other books that I will be using as well.

But if TCN books work for you,,,,,,go for it!!!!

I have only taken the Lifespan test so far. I used a Chancellors Guide, my old textbook, notes on Yahoo groups, and the practice test. To make a long story short I think I overdid it. Like some one else said I made a 67 and 68 on the practice test and an "A" on the actual exam. I felt like I was blowing the exam until I saw my grade. I think what you have ought to be enough.
