My RN license was suspended for three years and reinstated in February, 2011. Since then I have applied for and been approved for licensure by endorsement in another state. When searching for the status of that license, I googled myself and discovered that I was put on the OIG exclusion list in 2007. I had not received information from either BON or OPD or OIG. I requested the necessary documents from the OIG to remove me from the excluded providers list, and finally received them after waiting four long months. I learned from those documents that it may take 120 days or longer for them to respond to my request.
I have read in these forums that other nurses have had problems with the OIG, and I honestly feel better knowing that eventually this may be settled.
What I don't understand is that the information listed for me online gives my profession as Nurses Assistant/RN and lists my address in a state where I have lived but never was licensed in nor practiced in. Where is this information generated from and who do I contact to get it updated? Also, the details of my suspension are listed on the OPD site but my address is incorrect and there is no indication anywhere that my suspension has been lifted.
In other words, any potential employer whether in healthcare or not will be forming an opinion about me based on erroneous information. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate your input.
