I'm just a few weeks away from my first semester in the nursing program and am loving all the school supplies with which I get to play. Besides the regular folders and stuff, there's mini-folders and nursing gadgets as well. I wish I had my backpack already so I could pack it!
Who else is enjoying it?

Oh yeah. This has been a topic in another thread for while. Its like being a child again! My husband thinks I'm nuts. I have all of my supplies already but I still go to Walmart and walk down that aisle and see if there is anything else that I had to have......not necessarily need. Lord knows I don't need anything else right now. Just counting the days till school starts.

I love that wal-mart has back to school stuff out already. As soon as I get paid on Wednesday I'm going for my binder. It's brown with hawaiian turquoise flowers on it. And it comes with a matching lunch bag!!!!! I feel like a kid again, too!! What kind of nursing 'things' are you getting?

I always love the back to school time. It is such a fresh, clean, slate! I have been getting the kids their supplies and I found the cutest backpacks at costco for $15. I normally spend much, much more than that on backpacks. They hold lots of stuff too. My backpack is an ebag on wheels and is great for college classes. I also use it to travel. It has a spot for laptop and a roomy area for books.
I have bought new batteries for my recorder. Fresh highlighters and pens. Notebook paper and binders. I LOVE IT!

I've been having a ball, as well. I have amassed quite the collection of pens, highlighters, notebooks, index cards, etc... Every night I just take a look at it all. Oh, and I've been obsessed with finding just the right black pens with just the right fine point...
I even have my backpack pretty much packed up... we had a LOT of assignments to do before school starts, and I've been rolling it all around with me to work and back. Most days I never even open the darn bag, but I roll it around anyway... obsessed much?
I'm a freak, I tell you! A freak.
But at least I'm not alone.
The nursing things I bought right after I was accepted. My stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, hemostat, bandage scissors and all those type things. I bought mini-composition books to keep notes in my pockets, a mini-calculator for a dollar at Target, a four-color pen (I think I need another; I'm marking my planner in different colors so I can keep track of personal life with school stuff by choosing a shade,) as well as other regular school supplies.
My favorite thing was making a name-tag for my stethoscope. I bought colored letter beads and put them on nylon cord and tied it on. It's like school-supplies on steriods!

I think that I have always had a love-affair with school supplies. I could do some serious damage if let loose in a staples or office depot. My hubby thinks I have a screw loose, but I always tell him that there are others like me!!
I've yet to go and get items for this semester. I usually wait and go when the kids go....that way I get to have even more fun by proxy while they pick out stuff!

Heehee! Me too! I've finished my pre-reqs, feel like I've finally perfected my note-taking and organizing system, and wait with baited breath to see how well that system holds up in the actual nursing program :chuckle

OP: love that you're a grammar purist! "school supplies with which I get to play!" :nuke: Even as a kid, I LOVED going into stationery stores. Now, as an adult, scrapbooking supplies and, yes, school supplies make me very, very happy!
Love my bright orange backpack from Lands' End! For only $29, it holds everything, and if it ever rips, they replace it. Plus I got a cute little pencil holder, note card holder, my fave pens and pencils. I still have to find a cool binder and notebook. Oh, and start to study. Yeah.

Oh yes... I went to Office Depot the other day, sans kids, so I could REALLY look around and see what all I might need. Not much $ right now, so I didn't really get anything (except a desk calendar, which I've already filled in with dates of my classes for the next semester). But I did go to B&N and get that Saunders Nursing Student Planner that one of you mentioned recently. Already filled in as many dates as I had, too. Hopefully it will be a good one.
We're such nerds, aren't we? (said in the most proud and loving way possible!)

I went to Wal-mart the other day and went school supply shopping. I have 3 binders: a pink one, a purple one, and a white one. All I need now is a really good bookbag on wheels.
