Hi,
I was just curious as to how many have applied more than once to nursing programs in Oregon and were not accepted. The question comes up a lot within my group of friends. For instance, "if you don't get in, will you apply again next year?" As for me, I don't believe I will. I've come in with guns a blazin' this year (multiple degrees..BA, BS, MA; a 3.9GPA; CNA, etc.), and if that's not good enough now, I don't see how it'll be good enough the following year or years to come.

It took me 3 years of applying to get accepted.
The first year I applied to CCC, Mt Hood and Linfield, I couldn't apply to PCC yet because I had not completed A&P before the deadline for the application.
The next year all my pre-reqs where done and had started to retake an A&P to bump up that GPA, I applied to CCC, MT Hood, Linfield, OHSU, PCC and Clark ( that was an expensive application year:eek:) this time I found out that I was just a few points away from the cut off for the interview for CCC, but alas not accepted again
So I finshed that year of school, decided I was not going to enroll again in the fall as I now had in just the process of working on my pre-reqs earned enough credits for 2 assoicate degrees.
I went to work full time as a CNA in the ED while awaiting the next year for nursing school application season to begin.
I spent the whole year looking at all the schools in the area, Portland state, OHSU, George Fox, Walla Walla, PCC, CCC, Mt. Hood, Clark, Linfield, even started to look at those for profit LPN schools (you know the ones that charge 25,000 for a LPN:eek: I looked at cost, relocation and scholarships
In the end, the next year I only applied to 2 school, PCC and CCC, and I got in at PCC. I was the second to last year that they had the lottery and because I had applied the year before I got 2 entries.
There were some classmates of mine who said that they had been trying for 6 years to get into a program before they finally did
OMG! Some tried for six years!?!? Wow! So you got in during the tail end of the lottery period. How about other students that got in not during the lottery period? Do you know the average GPA's and points?
