Which Ventura county hospital?

Published

I am in the process of reactivating my IL nursing license. After it is activated, I will be getting the CA RN license. I have a BSN and a few years of work experience around 10 years ago. I expect to be starting out near a new grad rate. My question for all of you out there....which hospital is the best hospital to work at for RNs?

We live in Camarillo, CA. I could work in Ventura, Oxnard, or Thousand Oaks. Oxnard may be a little closer, but it wouldn't make that much difference. Any input any has would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Doesn't anyone have any input??? I am looking at Los Robles in Thousand Oaks, Community Medical Center in Ventura, St. John's in Oxnard and Camarillo, and Ventura County Medical in Ventura.

Please....any comments would be greatly appreciated!

I was born and raised in Oxnard, and am very familiar with Ventura County (though I never worked as a nurse there).

My former nursing instructor earned $45 hourly at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks. Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura seems like a cool, laid-back place to work. Hopefully this helps. Good luck! :)

Thanks for the reply!

I guess when I am ready, I will see if I can speak to all of the hospitals around here. I am thinking the Los Robles or CMH would both be fine. They both seem to sponsor education for employees, which is important to me. It may come down to whom has the most appealing open positions.

Thanks, again!

I know a little something about all of those hospitals as I've either worked there, been there as a student, or have good friends employed there. CMH would be my hands down favorite but then that's because I work L&D and I am most "in tune" with how they run their OB unit. I would guess that each hospital has it's pros and cons depending on the unit and shift that you want to work. St Johns Regional (Oxnard) has a $10,000 sign on bonus for nites, $7,500 for days. CMH has a $7,500 for nites and $5,000 for days. Not sure about the other ones off the top of my head.

I rarely check this forum but feel free to PM me if you have more questions!

Thanks for your input! It is much appreciated.
