Hello everybody!!
I had interviewed yesterday for an oncology floor, which also has med surg patients, at a great hospital. The nurse manager was lovely, as was the work environment. I had a good feeling about this place. After the interview, I received an email 2 hours later from the recruiter stating that the nurse manager wants to hire me to her unit. It is a 10 week orientation, with two months precepting. I feel pressured to say yes because I do not have any other offers yet since this was my first interview! I want to just wait it out until tomorrow's interview (for a potential dream job). I did not realize they would have responded that quickly!
I have a second in-person interview tomorrow for my dream hospital at a children's hospital. I am confident it will go well. It is for pediatric operating room. It is a new grad nurse residency program that is one year long, with a two year commitment. I am very excited for this, and I want to follow my heart (if given the opportunity). Both hospitals are about 10 minutes from my house. Both salaries are similar in salaries (even with the residency).
What offer do you think I should take? What should I do? I really appreciate your help to anyone who responds !! Oncology is something that does interest me, and all my nurse friends are telling me to accept this offer because it is important to have your first year in a med/surg floor. However, I want to follow the pediatric route. Am I shutting myself out of other opportunities if I do pediatric OR? I feel like I am going to love it so much, I will want to retire at that hospital!!
