Which hospital is hiring NEW GRADS in houston area?

Published

Hello~ I am in the Houston/Katy Area. I will be graduating this December and need to start applying for jobs. Which of the Houston area hospital and LTAC and Nursing homes is hiring New Nurse.

Are you a new nurse that recently got a job in the Houston and surrounding area?? What did you do differently?/ Where did you apply at??

Thanks

BSN or ADN/ASN?

It is getting harder to get a job as a new ADN/ASN in the Houston area.

I worked as a tech at a local ER and was luckily able to transfer over to an RN position.

Memorial Katy is not hiring, Methodist West only hires new BSN's (they may hire ADN/ASN with experience, but want you to get your BSN) and Christus St Catherine has just been bought out by Methodist and is becoming a LTAC facility, so not sure on their status.

I heard Texas Children's West is getting ready for a big hire and they do take new ADN/ASN graduates.

I had a friend of mine that took a job at the ER in Bellville to get some experience (is now at Methodist).

I heard Scott and White in College Station hires new RN's and they opened a new facility, but I think they only hire at specific times, but may be worth looking in to (but it is 70 miles from Katy).

I will get my BSN this December. Thanks for your response. I have applied to Cyfair MEd center but have not heard from them yet. I have been looking at Memorial Hermann website and Texas children but nothing yet on new grads.

I know Hermann in general does New Grad hires 2x a year (Jan and July I believe), so you may want to call their main recruiter and ask them for details. Keep an eye on the website also, stuff pops up all the time in Katy, Sugarland and Mem City.

Not sure how Methodist does it.

I have heard some negative of CyFair (mostly about their ER), but no personal experience. It is sad that the ball is in the hospitals court and you almost have to take what you can get to get that experience.
