I know that there are people that are working in nursing school, but where are you working and what are you doing? I'm having a hard time thinking of employers that can provide full-time or near full-time hours that will be super flexible and pay a wage that'll be liveable.

I am working for a "home healthcare" contractor. They offer flexible hours and most of the time the people you are caring for live close to you. I will only work 20 hours a week and the pay depends on what type of care you are giving but ranges from 10-15 an hour. I know that they also offer full time hours, it just depends on what your schedule availability is.
That's pretty cool. Do you have to be a CNA to do that?
No, you are a "companion". They train you for two days and then they send you to homes of need. I haven't actually started the job yet, but my training is in the middle of August and then I will be helping out a young boy with Cerebral Palsy. It will challenge me and also give me a feel for what I might encounter in the hospital.
It sounds like a good work opportunity. Would you mind PMing me the name of the company?

I worked at the VA hospital as an NA. As long as you are done with ur 1st semester of Nursing School..you can work there and don't have to be "certified"..You pretty much learn all those skills 1st sem. It paid really well and I was in a float pool...so I just told my supervisor when I wanted to work and what hours and he put me on the schedule. It was pretty sweet :)
That's so cool! I'll have to see if other hospitals will let you work as an NA after your first semester of nursing school, too.

patch, for some reason i can't send you a message. seems like every time i go to send you a message, the website logs me out. i'm not sure what is going on, but the name of the place is good neighbor support services and this is their number 623-932-4878 . i'm not sure if i'm allowed to post that on here or not, but there ya go its kind of funny, after i signed up for the class i ended up getting a weekend live-in caregiver position that isn't through any agency, its just a private home. i went last night and i'm very excited to start. i'll be there only on the weekends saturday morning until monday morning. it will be hard not to be able to go out much, but i figure it will be good cause this will force me to study on my spare time because i have to stay inside the house:yeah: or it will just give me an excuese to get on the computer :typing and read more of these forums :chuckle

I'm planning on keeping my current job, which is bartending at a club. its extremely flexible and really good money! i currently work 4 shifts with them, but i told my boss i would only be able to work on saturday nights once i start school. i will still make anywhere from 200 to 300 dollars just working that one shift, and it still leaves me with saturday day, and all day sunday to get any extra homework or studying done :)
