Where can LPN's work?

Updated:   Published

Hi guys!

So I KNOW they can work in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes etc. I guess my actual question is: Whats the difference between them? Im trying to get into the LPN program at Orlando Tech and would like some information from any LPN's here that work or have worked at different locations. Whats the pay, schedule, stress levels?? Any information would be appreciated. All I know is that I want to becoma an LPN to help others. I have noooo medical background and have nooo idea what im getting myself into when it comes to the actual JOB. Thank you!! Any of you guys work around Orlando???? The only thing I know is that at a hospital you can work 12 hr shifts which seem awesome for me since I have a family of my own IDK if I want the typical m-f 8-5 job you know? I think I would rather work really hard for 3 days but then again what do I know :p

I graduated from Orlando Tech 2008. LPN are not usually hired in hospitals in FL. LPN usually work in nursing homes, clinics, dr office, psych (giving med). The year program at Orlando Tech is pretty demanding. I work M-F in a clinic, hrs vary, but I get my 40 hrs. Any more questions?

Thankx. How much does a new lpn grad make around here in Orlando??? Would you say you like your job?? What is your typical day like? Any info would be awesome!!

Hi, mkup29 did you ever do the program? any advice? I start at orlando tech in august!

Specializes in OB.

Most Hospitals are not hiring LPN's anymore. Actually they are sending their LPN's to get their RN. Just FYI.

I have been in Florida;Orlando and Kissimmee, for over 4 years now. I have 11 yrs. of Lpn experience to include

Critical care. It is impossible for Lpns to obtain employment in a hospital here in Florida . I opted out

and decided to enroll in to the RN bridge program for Lpns at Valencia College. I am currently a sophomore. Good luck
