Hi Ya'll! I am a CANADIAN student with a BACHELORS OF SCIENCE. I will be applying to an ACCELERATED BSN program in the states (since my family will be settling there eventually). Now since I am a CANADIAN STUDENT, my entire transcript is being evaluated by WES in order to apply to the schools I am applying to. In addition, I have to take MICROBIOLOGY and NUTRITION as a prerequisite.
Can anyone recommend any US accredited places where I can take these courses ONLINE, and therefore not have them evaluated by WES? This would be great help for me!
Thank you!

i am in the same situation. im from the US but i am taking mine at a community college. if your area has any community colleges take them there itll be way cheaper and where i live a lot of the big universitys dont have a lot of bio classes during the summer. i would say try community colleges there cheaper and usually always transfer the credits to wherever youll be going to school for nursing. with micro where im at you can take it online but you must come in a few times a month for lab which for my school is on a saturday. you can apply to any community college anywhere and explain to them what your situation is and what you want to do theyll be able to help you more with the details because im not sure about this topic really. good luck

Just to reiterate, the nursing programs I applied to required a lab with micro... requiring it to be an on-campus class.

Vwde, I took my micro online with a lab. We received a lab kit in the mail. I really enjoyed doing the labs from the comfort and convenience of my own home. They were actually really fun and I did excellent in the class!

You can also take them online at community college of denver in colorado and yes it has a lab. You will need to order the labkit and do the labs at home on your own. Good Luck!!:)

Any community college probably offers nutrition online. Micro might be harder to come by.

Rio Salado offers both online, with a microbiology lab. Pricey if you're not from Arizona but classes start frequently, take about 8 or 9 weeks, and are completely online.

I did Micro online, same thing- lab kit was mailed to me- through Rio Salado College. http://www.riosalado.edu/Pages/Default.aspx. Got an A and it counted for my ADN, and I've had it evaluated for an ADN-MSN program and it was OK.

I also did micro online with labs through Colorado Community College Online. Pricy but convenient. Nutrition you should be able to find almost anywhere.

I'm planning to do my A&P and Micro online. I've applied to Snead State in Alabama, and the ABSN program I'm hoping for has already approved it. They said that it was fine, as long as the college is regionally accredited, which Snead State is.
There are some nursing programs that won't accept online science prereq's, though. You might want to check with the nursing school you want to attend before you take an online science course.
ETA: Nutrition should be easy to find online.

Hey this will partially answer your question but I thought I would give it a try. Have you tried Athabasca University in Canada, they have an excellent microbiology course with a lab component and also many nutrition classes. The best one is probably Nutr 331 nutrition for health. there is also an intro to nutrition as well. Classes through Athabasca University are very transferable to the US and are great credits to get on your transcript. Sorry I don't know of any convenient ways through the US. Hope this helps just a little.
