Is that the correct spelling of her name? I looked on ebay under that and ebay automatically changes the spelling to point me to some half naked woman trading card with a very similar name.. I know you guys haven't been studying that! Please help clueless one over here...

I think her eBay name is larends. I really don't get too much from her guides though. In my opinion they contain a lot of info that I have already gotten for free. They contain her notes, that's true, but I see the same general notes all over the net. In addition, it seems like she has a lot of copyrighted material (that I just don't see the copyright holders giving her permission to use, in her material, to make a profit, although I could be wrong, feel free to call me on it if I am). And I just find that funny, b/c she is so adamant almost to the point of threating about her copyright, which she should be, but not if she is using other's without permission.
Anyway, in my opinion, if you join the Yahoo Groups, look through their files, and links, and do some searching on the net of your own, you'll basically get what is equivalent to her info.
And last thing about purchasing anyone's notes, remember that you are getting notes written with someone else's short hard, someone else's writing style, and what someone else thought was important to remember.

i really don't get too much from her guides though. (majority of the students that have used it are happy with it)
in my opinion they contain a lot of info that i have already gotten for free. (please note that this may not be true for other students... some students are still struggling to get it together)
they contain her notes, that's true, but i see the same general notes all over the net. (general notes is a common thing in nursing because nursing concepts is evidenced based)

(you are assuming here, which is not fair to the seller) i'm sure you know ebay allows both buyers/sellers alike to set up a user name, but when you purchase items you have to use your real name, which is also true for the seller... i say this because if the seller is selling copyrighted material:nono:.... i'm sure she knows she has a lot at stake because she's a licensed nurse, well, i'm sure she must have learned about copyright/plagiarism while in school--so i don't think is fair to pass any type of judgement. please know that i have absolutely no relationship with the seller. i think she's just trying to help others

(is interesting you mentioned yahoo groups... i'm not sure why you are part of such "groups," which i'm a member of as well if you didn't think it was beneficial to you, as you know, in those groups people freely share their experiences/feedbacks, which you can't do in a site like 'allnurses' i'm not sure why you don't have a problem with such groups.

please lets be mindful about how we criticize others, especially when we're not saints ourselves. in colleges & universities alike most... if not all professors understand that students do share their notes and other materials for that simple reason they have a strategy in place, that is--they change the questions, again the ideas may just be the same and this is were critical thinking comes into play. good luck & happy studying!

and you know this how? you've taken a poll of most of the people that purchased her products after they actually got to use the materials and put them to the test?

which is exactly why if there is nothing "stellar" about the notes, they are not worth paying for. a person might as well get free notes written on the same evidenced based nursing concepts.

didn't i say that i could be wrong, and welcomed to be called upon if i were? i said it seems like, not i know she uses. and, if a person is to read what is written, for what it says, t's clear as day that i made an assumption based upon the materials that i purchased. in addition, do some research. people sell things that they have no right to on ebay on a daily basis. some get called on, some don't, and for some it takes a while to get called on. if i really cared or had the extra time, i'd be happy to contact all of the sources who i assume, could be having there info pirated by lisa, and then give ebay a call so that they can check it out too. that is to say, if i really was trying to disrupt her business, there are better ways to do it than posting on a forum. and, while she may be trying to help people (while making a profit), i am trying to help people decide f it is really worth their money to buy her or anyone else's notes.

what? when did i say that being apart of a yahoo group wasn't beneficial? when did i say i had a problem with yahoo groups? come on, really.

true, but for the fact that textbooks and the like are not notes. they are meant to cover a lot of material, in full format. notes are meant to be just that, notations, of much more material. so, as i said the note-taker may have for a to be relevant, and included it, but b wasn't relevant so it was omitted, and the note purchaser may really need b, so they'll have to research for it. and if you have to go through that anyway, you may as well get the notes for free.
i never said that i was a saint, nor am i trying to sell anything. meaning, the only motivation for my post is my honest opinion of the material, point, blank, period. everything after that in your above comment was irrelevant to anything that i said.
I've bought some of Lisa Arends' notes. They were okay, definitely $10 worth okay.
I bought the textbooks and plow through them. Where Lisa's notes helped were, for me, NC 4, with a lot of cardiology. That was a killer unit and having something already organized into an easily - portable study packet was most helpful.
The thing I liked most about them was that they followed the EC study guide outline and yes I don't think I'd pay more than $10 for them. That is not ALL that I studied (except for NC7 her disk is all I used and got an A) but it is a good starting point.
Just like with any other study guide/material everyone has an opinion on what works best for them

I am also one to think they are only worth the $10 charged. I don't think they're the best thing in the world either by a long shot. I'd say save the money and buy textbooks or the accompanying study guides. I'm not terribly impressed with her guides.
(I'm wondering if I can get my post quoted and picked apart as well. Please?)
