hey guys... Im leaving for Canada in a few months time and i was thinking about starting to prepare for the CRNE this early. Just wondering where i can buy books here in the phils about CRNE preparation. I've seen so many books on NCLEX RN but books on CRNE are quite rare here.
Thanks in advance!

The CRNE books are only available out of Canada in most cases, would just wait until you get there to prepare with those books. You can use the NCLEX books as a basic review to get you started in your preparation now.
Bigger assortment of books available in Canada for their exam.

As Suzanne says very hard to get outside of Canada plus if you buy in Canada and get it shipped the costs are very high. Seen a few quotes of over $100 just for shipping

Hey there,
I bought the CRNE prep guide from the CNA website
Also "Mosby's Comprehensive review of Nursing" and "Mosby's prep guide for the Canadian RN exam" are both available online at Amazon.ca
As someone else said, I'm not sure of the shipping costs, but if it's not a problem, that's where you can get them... I have all 3 and they all seem good lol

That's a problem too, I've checked with National bookstore and C&E publishing they have no CNA review books or CRNE books by MOSBY or Lippincot. It seems getting a hold of the review materials from Canada is difficult here in the Philippines. I talked with a representative from C&E and she asked for my contact number just in case they get a hold of MOSBY or Lippincot. She also said they requested the book October last year. Unfortunately, they are having a hard time of getting the said books
what I did was I asked a relative in Canada to buy the book and send it to me here in the philippines.
It cost me 74 CDN for the book and 22 CDN for the shipping via Canada post. It took 6 weeks before I received it.
Its the cheapest mode of shipping I found. Its okay since I am not in a hurry anyway. Atleast I did not spend more money on the shipping cost than on the book itself.

You have to buy the review off the website
http://www.cna-nurses.ca/CNA/nursing/rnexam/preptools/default_e.aspx
As a back, they also have this online prep tool that you can use while you're waiting for the actual book itself. You can purchase it online.
The Mosby book is helpful too. That's the only nursing text that I studied when I wrote my CRNE on Oct '09. Mind you, the exam isn't all about pathophysiology and medications. The exam tests you on how you react to certain situations and how you prioritize, so don't focus much on the disease processes and stuff.
Make sure you purchase a Canadian based community health nursing text. Lots of CRNE questions are on community nursing.
Also, the CNA might be changing the format of the exam, from mulitple choices to mixed M/Cs and short answers. So, buying the CRNE book will be truly helpful because it includes a section on short answers.
Good luck!
A better idea might be to order from Amazon.ca.( http://www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_ss_2_4?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=crne+prep+guide&sprefix=crne ) You can get Lippincott and Mosby from them and an older version of the CNA book through their used book section. Their international shipping rates are a LOT lower than CNA's, who I've heard charge more than the cost of the book to ship it outside of North America. Then you could do the online review with CNA to see how well you've done at understanding how the exam is constructed.
