Hey guys! Was wondering when in the course of program you alumni from EC started to send care plans into EC for review? Did you have a favorite resource you used to aide in your care plan writing or did you just stick to the Mosby's Guide to Nursing Diagnosis?

Personally, I think even if you don't write them you are always thinking of what they are or could be as you progress in the program. I have the 3 LS exams left and have not HAD to write them yet, but in studying I do write them because I feel it helps. I am not sure when you HAVE to, but if you don't get it early I think it could potentially be a problem. It is imperative to be able to write and prioritize them. Imo- one should always be practicing them. Hope this helps!!

I don't believe that we have to send in any care plans for EC other than the FCCA, but I have heard that alot of students do just to make sure they are on track. I am on LS1 now, and I am starting to feel that I really want to be completely prepared for when CPNE & NCLEX come, and to make sure I am doing things "the Excelsior way" lol...and exactly what Excelsior expects for careplans. I would like to send in a few for review, and I am wondering what the turn around time is for a response.

Can you turn in care plans for review?? I didn't know we could! I love that option and would do it too!

you should not worry about cpne careplans until you are finish with all your nursing exams and preparing for the cpne. they explain the cpne careplans in the the study guide.

i am not sure if you can send careplans now. i think you can only do it after you registered for the cpne. i am not sure though so please get the info from the horse's mouth.

i sent a couple of full careplans for review via message center and somebody checks it and comments on it for free. you can also have a free weekly call to an ec advisor and get to ask any questions regarding the cpne. the week prior to your cpne date, you can have a daily call.

again, i will advise that you worry about these things when you are ready for the cpne. the nursing exams are hard enough and should have your full attention. you will have plenty of time to prepare for the cpne.

thanks for the info! i had read in previous posts that people had sent some in, but had no idea how to go about it. there is certainly enough to keep me busy with just trying to get my exams done, lol....as i get closer to fcca & cpne, i am having some concerns about just being thrown into careplans and how they will apply to cpne.

no problem. are you planning to attend a workshop? the workshop i went to (tina in pa) included weekly care planning. i did my care planning with her for 2 months and after that i was an "expert." i only sent in a couple of care plans (maybe total of 3?) to ec to clarify some things on the care plan.

i really recommend that you go to a workshop. after my workshop, everything made sense and tina connected all the dots and explained the whole cpne study guide in a very understandable way, including the careplanning.
