Wheeling Jesuit University ASBN

Published

I was accepted in Wheeling Jesuit University ASBN 2014 Cohort last week! I wondering if anyone has has been accepted or has gone through this program? I understand the program is about 6 years old and runs about 18 months. I do not know anything about Wheeling, VW I would be relocating from Brooklyn NY. Does anyone know about this area?

I'm planning to start the program whenever I finish the prerequisites. It's a school with a good reputation regionally and everyone I know who graduated is employed which is true for most nursing schools. The total cost for the ABSN program is a little less than $40,000. There are as good, less expensive options, but the cost for me is offset by being able to live at home. Wheeling is probably a normal place to live, but there are bad parts so be wary of cheap apartments. Pipeline workers are coming in from out of town and infrequently causing problems, for example a WJU student was killed by two at a bar. That said, I doubt you'll be able to get fish sandwiches as good as Coleman's in Brooklyn.

Here's a list of ABSN/AMSN programs - http://www.aacn.nche.edu/leading-initiatives/research-data/BSNNCG.pdf / http://www.aacn.nche.edu/leading-initiatives/research-data/GENMAS.pdf.

Thank you that was very useful! I talk a lady name Cynthia and she told me they are about to be approved for another cohort in addition to the two they already offer (Jan, Jun, Aug). When do you think you will enroll? Yea you could find almost any food option and its probably pretty good done here in Brooklyn!

Specializes in CTICU.

I'm a senior (traditional) at WJU and will be graduating this May. Send me a message and I would be happy to answer any questions!

How is the BSN program? I'm planning on startng in Spring 2015. How many pple they accept and how many make it out successfully? I'm guessing all the in class test is on ATI or something cuz their board passing rate is 100%. Pls tell me details about the program...I wanna know

I don't know anything about the BSN program there, but I grew up in the Wheeling area. I now live in FL- had to open this post when I saw the title. Wheeling is an economically depressed area, meaning there isn't a lot of growth, and the median income is low. The people from the area are some of the hardest working people I have ever met, but many live very rough lives. My entire family still lives in the area and I visit often. Be prepared for a very different way of life if you are relocating to Wheeling. I'm not saying it is bad, just different. If you are looking at schools in that area you may also want to investigate West Liberty University. They used to (not sure if they still do) have a great nursing program. It is a public school so the tuition is far more affordable than WJU. It is a bit out of town (20 min), so a lot of people over look it....if you have any specific area questions let me know.

Is anyone here in the summer 2015 cohort by chance?

When I was suppose to go they cancelled my cohort! They said they didn't have enough clinical instructors i'm from Brooklyn as well instead I went to Penn State U ASBN. Best of luck to you!
