Wheaton Franciscan St. Joseph'sor Aurora St. Luke's

Published

I have interviews set up at both St. Joseph's and St. Luke's in Milwaukee this week and was wondering if anyone works there. I have some questions: What to you like about working there? What do you dislike about working there? And lastly, I know it's a bit personal, but what is the average wage for a new RN at your facility?

I am just wondering if it is worth the 1 hour commute to work at these facilities. I have been offered $21 per hour in town here, but it is in LTC. Just one to cover all my bases.

Thanks!:nuke:

I've not heard good things about Aurora.

I also have heard not-so-positive things about Aurora...mandatory OT for example. Classmates of mine several years ago when I was in nrsg school took positions with Aurora after graduation...don't think anyone is still there. However, I have heard St. Luke's referred to as "St. Lucrative's", however with starting wages I've seen posted here for the Milwaukee area, I think it is hardly accurate. Good luck!

A former classmate of mine used to work at St. Joe's in L&D...loved it.

I was quite disappointed with my interview at St. Luke's. My starting wage would be only 25 cents more than what I was offered in a nursing home close to home. Definately NOT worth the drive!

I just interviewed with WF and starting pay is $22 and the insurance is terrible.

Thank goodness I received a "Dear John" letter. That would have meant a commute of 1 1/2 hrs.

That's what St. Luke's offered me. I actually wound up cancelling my interview with WF. I called HR to see if what I wanted as pay to travel over an hour each way would even be possible. Her rude answer to me was "I can tell you if what you want is in the range." And then proceeded to tell me that what I wanted was well within the range. I didn't like that they couldn't even give me an estimate or average starting pay for new RNs. So, I decided not to waste my time with the interview.

I am so sorry to hear about your negative experiences with both facilities. I have worked with Aurora for 7 years now and consider it next to the top as far as employers. The only other hospital I ever worked at that I considered as top was Abbott Northwestern in Minneapolis.

I hope you find your dreams.
