What's the highest hourly rate for shift care as an LVN in CA?.. Is there a difference in pay for G-tube patients, and vent patients or any other other specialty type care?

Pay rates are totally dependent upon the policies of the agency that you work for.  Some pay more per hour for vent patients (they should!) and some do not.  Some have a range, usually covering a spread of about $5 and others have one set rate only.  Some have policies that they talk about, but then when you ask around, you find that certain "special" nurses get "special" pay rates while you have been low-balled because you are so gullible.  In July of last year, Medi-Cal raised their reimbursement rates so now the bottom end of extended care rates has pretty much been raised to a minimum of $22/hour.  Some agencies pay more and some still pay less.  I recently saw an ad that mentioned a pay range from $24 to $30 an hour but I would be surprised to hear that the particular agency actually pays any LVN $30 an hour to do extended care.

What caliotter said. However in my experience if your patient goes to school, you get paid more.
