Okay I need to hear from sombody whom, like myself desires to be a nurse and decided to jump in and take a 4 week A & P I course before I even apply to the 2008 class.

It is with regret I have after 2 weeks and 4 test decided to drop and pick it back up in the fall as a regular class.I am currently bordering a low C and i definitley don't want to take a chance on going any lower. There is just so much info so fast!!!!!

I had came out of my first class, Gen. Psych with 104.0 average so this is a big let down for me. I am in mid 40s career change due to a buyout of my company and coming from administrative HR background !!!! I really feel terrible because this is a class I need to do well in. !!! encouagement please!!!!

A&P in 4 weeks would be hard for anyone. I am also doing the career change - same age as you. I took A&P 1 in the fall, then A&P2 in the spring. It is a good decision to drop it and then just retake it when you have more time to absorb the information. You are correct - it is a class you should do well in for nursing.

Sending good vibes your way - I am sure you'll do fine.

Can you find an A&P class at another community college that extends throughout the whole summer? Don't feel bad about having to take it in a long semester. That is what happened to me with Statistics. I dropped it after a couple of tests and lots of $$ spent. I am 38 years old and starting nursing school in the Fall. You are never too old. Just take it in the Fall so you will have more time to learn all of the material. Good luck!

I don't know how on earth one could do a 4 WEEK AP class? I don't think it would be humanly possible unless it was like a review for clep.

I think you are very wise to take it in the Fall you will apprectiate it so much more at a human pace.

A&P has tons of info over a regular semester! I can't ever imagine taking it in four weeks. Ack!!!!

What was that, like 4 chapters a week? NO THANKS!

You'll rock the regular term, don't you worry!

keep your chin up and your ambition strong! at least you had the wisdom to drop the class in lieu of being permanently marked with a lower than desirable grade. go easy on yourself...

I am so sorry that happened. I'm taking AP in 5 weeks, and it is moving LIGHTING fast. To give you an idea of what we are going through. My husband stays gone S thru F for work...we have the twins in daycare full time and then I have a neighbor's teenager that entertains the kids in the afternoon's while I study.

I study 6 to 8 hours per day and 10 hours on the weekends. Thursday is the only day I take off.

I have an A, but only a 93 average, so by the time it's over with, I'll probably end up with a B, but I'm trying hard!

However, I know I have worked as hard as I possibly can and I can't work any harder...I would be OK with a C if I knew it was the very best I could do.

I'm sorry- I know it's disappointing to not do well when you are used to being an excellent student. But those intensive summer courses are the worst! I had a similar experience. I was a great student in my first degree studies (English Lit), and A&P was the first course I took once I was accepted into a nursing program. I was so excited to begin nursing that I signed up for summer intensive A&P, and dropped out after the first week. I then took A&P I in the Fall, and even though the hours were better, I just was not ready/focused, and I got a C in the class. I took several years off school after that because I felt very discouraged. However, after all that time i realized I still really wanted to be a nurse, so a couple years ago I started going back to school (one class at a time, while working full time) to finish my pre-reqs. I finally completed the loathed A&P I and II this semester, and now I only have one more pre-req to take. I am even thinking of going back and re-taking A&P I. I was accepted into 2 excellent nursing programs, and am hoping to start one of them next Sept. Anyway, this has turned into a ramble- sorry- but my point it DON't BE DISCOURAGED, DON'T GIVE UP!
