The "male" nurses that I know are the nicest, sweetest, most caring individuals around!!! It takes a special person to be a nurse... whether you are male or female! Good luck with school!!!

Heck no, I am going for the rich male doctor...:lol2: Just kidding. I am married so it has never crossed my mind. But to tell you the truth, nursing school is so stressful I would not want to start ANY new relationship...

I dated a male nurse 7-8 years ago, and at the time I really had never thought about going to NS. He is far from the reason that I'm going now, but he was one of the first people who put the idea in my head. Last I heard he married one of his co-nurses, so I guess it does happen. However, considering the fact that male nurses are still in the minority, you're probably a little less likely to meet someone in NS than in another major...at least your mother didn't suggest that you hurry up and graduate so you can marry that doctor!

i would say because to me they are a totally different breed. when i was growing up they didn't exist where i'm from that is. and now you look around and they are everywhere. it's very strange for me to think about a male going into nursing. i think it's a good thing but will take some time for me to get used to.

Men are men, whether they are nurses or mechanics or gymnasts. The fact that a man is a nurse should not mean anything. They are not oddities.

We have 4 guys in my class, 3 are married. The single one is a great guy (well, they're all great, but we're talking about dating prospects here).

I don't think I would recommend dating any classmate though just because programs are long and intense and you spend a vast amount of time with these people, so if things go sour you still have to go to class and/or clinicals with them for quite a while, which could distract you from your studies.

i remember how terrified i was to be put under general anesthesia when i had my thyroid surgery a few years ago....i was in the best care of a male nurse in the pacu. he was very nice and soooooo cute, too ;) put me back under anytime :lol2:

i also had a male midwife delivering my youngest son who did a fantastic job and on another occasion i had a guy medic install a catheter ( i never felt more discomfort in my life since my bladder was about to explode post-op!!!!!!)

it's time for people to change attitudes concerning male nurses!!!!
