I just got here to Houston, TX about 4 days ago. I'm a new RN graduate, got my license from another state. I applied to many hospitals but have not heard back yet. Anyway, I've received a call from one of the agency here in TX. He offered me a job as a new grad, but I have to accept it as a LVN position [b/c New RN status with no exp.] doing Hospice's care in the city. The pay is adequate. What do you guys think? Should I or shouldn't I? Or should I wait for other places to call before making any decision???

Would there be opportunity for you to advance soon and use your RN license? I thought in situations like these, even though you have a LVN job, you are still held to your highest degree (RN).... Could get sticky with them wanting you do do RN things but only give you LVN pay
I don't know about it! He stated that they only hired RN with experiences, not new grad. It's contract to hire, so I didn't say yes or no yet. It's kind of sticky, b/c I'm not getting pay the right amount. So.........

Sounds like a feeler, meaning it's a trial. It allows for both parties to part ways if it's not a good fit. I would find out how long the contract is for? 90 days, 120, ect and clearify what they need from you, to become a "hire", this will also allow for you to address your concerns as well.
