Police under review for blasting Disney songs in alleged attempt to keep videos off social media

“If you work for the public and there are numerous people out recording you telling you to please turn it off, why wouldn’t anyone in their right mind stop that?” he said.
The video was uploaded to the Santa Ana Audits Youtube channel, which appears to film police interactions to ensure people’s constitutional rights are respected. The man shooting the April 4 video does not identify himself and did not immediately respond to a request for comment through his channel. He began filming police officers from a distance as they appeared to search a car parked in a driveway, the video shows.
Then Randy Newman’s “You’ve Got a Friend In Me” began to play, and the cameraman walked across the street and confronted the officers.
“You guys get paid to listen to music?” he asked.
Hernandez heard the “Toy Story” music from his house around the corner and went to see what was happening, he told The Post. The councilman said he was already on edge, thinking that police were dealing with a person undergoing a mental health crisis. In September, Hernandez noted, Anaheim police fatally shot his cousin, Brandon Lopez, who was unarmed and in crisis.
As he approached the scene, Hernandez saw children standing outside and neighbors recording with their phones. Hernandez confronted the officer and asked why he was playing the loud Disney music, which appeared to be coming from the police cruiser’s PA system, Hernandez told The Post.
The officer told Hernandez that the man filming the video was interfering with their investigation, according to the video.

It's a warning sign when police take obvious and deliberate action to shield themselves from transparent public scrutiny, IMHO.

You say a president’s relative is part of iffy international deals?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/04/11/you-say-presidents-relative-is-part-iffy-international-deals/

Quote

“Six months after leaving the White House, Jared Kushner secured a $2 billion investment from a fund led by the Saudi crown prince, a close ally during the Trump administration, despite objections from the fund’s advisers about the merits of the deal,” the newspaper’s David D. Kirkpatrick and Kate Kelly report. “A panel that screens investments for the main Saudi sovereign wealth fund cited concerns about the proposed deal with Mr. Kushner’s newly formed private equity firm, Affinity Partners, previously undisclosed documents show. … But days later the full board of the $620 billion Public Investment Fund — led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler and a beneficiary of Mr. Kushner’s support when he worked as a White House adviser — overruled the panel.”
Got that? Billions of dollars given to Donald Trump’s son-in-law, despite concerns about the fund’s “inexperience” — one of the objections raised by that screening board. It’s essentially what Trump alleged about Hunter Biden on Jan. 6, with two important differences. The first is that there’s ample evidence that the billions in investment actually came through. The second is that Kushner is both one step removed from Trump (as Hunter Biden is removed from his father) and was an administration official in his own right.

Quote

It is the case that the breadth of Hunter Biden’s international financial activity appears to have been broader than Kushner’s, but this is not the only entanglement between Kushner and foreign investors. During Trump’s presidency and while Kushner worked in the West Wing, a Qatari-linked company bailed out a Kushner investment in Manhattan.
We arrive back where we began. In each case, qualifiers and howevers can be applied to rationalize specific deals and investments. But in each case there lingers a question of what dividends those international partners might have hoped to get for their investments beyond financial ones.
We should not expect Trump to acknowledge how his past rhetoric might now apply to his son-in-law. When his daughter Ivanka (Jared’s wife) was revealed to have used a private email account while she served in his administration, Trump declined to engage on the apparent hypocrisy, instead reportedly choosing to try to distract the press from the story.
According to former national security adviser John Bolton, Trump released a statement praising Mohammed bin Salman — then under fire for his role in the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi — with the hopes of “tak[ing] over the Ivanka thing,” as Bolton wrote.
And now Mohammed is reportedly in business with Ivanka Trump’s husband.

I would suggest that Trump employs projection when speaking of corruption of others.  What do you think?

Inflation again at highest levels since 1981.  It's what will be on people's minds.

Cue the narrative.  Here's Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Twitter.   I guess since she's running for governor in Arkansas it's a good idea to blame Biden for her states problems that she won't be able to solve such as her state being ranked as the third worst in providing healthcare, or being rated the 5th worst for poverty.

I am mystified as to what would inspire people to vote for her. I watched every single one of her press briefings.  I paid attention to how she approached and tackled the rigors of white house communication, it wasn't terribly impressive on any level. Her father's political career was a mess, in my view.  It's difficult to understand where her support would be.

Inflation is going to be a thorn in Biden's political agenda.  There's no getting around that.  What will benefit liberals in the midterm is honest and frequent talk about the root causes and the role of government in assisting "we the people" through the economic turmoil.  Messaging and targeted audiences are key in this era of misinformation and propaganda.

In Iowa on Tuesday, President Biden continued to pin blame on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine for much of the higher costs facing Americans and announced a move to expand the use of a blended form of gasoline that uses ethanol. The move, which will benefit Iowa corn farmers, is designed to curb prices at the pump.

“Your family budget, your ability to fill up your tank, none of it should hinge on whether a dictator declares war and commits genocide a half a world away," Biden said at an event hours after the release of a new inflation report that showed prices rose 8.5 percent across the board in March compared with a year ago.

I'm sure that Trump has been terribly inconvenienced by Putin's nastiness with Ukraine since he can't build his 100 story hotel and give his boyfriend Vlad a penthouse apartment in gratitude for a safely built structure.  Imagine th horror of having your biggest vanity project yet interfered with by these pesky Ukranians who have managed to humiliate his bro.And after Jared got his deal with the murderous Saudi pal...well, it's just proof that the mislabeled Abrahamic Accord was just a business deal to enrich him.  We can only hope that he loses billions of their dollars.  He already has a good record of losing millions.

"Trump Derangement Syndrome — the overwrought, persistent belief that everything former president Donald Trump did was corrupt, evil or both — has dominated political discussion for four years. You might have thought the condition would fade now that he is out of office. Instead, we’re seeing one type of TDS replaced by another: Trump Deprivation Syndrome."

Do you read Mr Olsen's opinion often? I do. This one is only surprising in that he talks about this made up syndrome and Trump supporter feelings about ongoing discussions about Trump's corruption and threat to our republic as if they are actual disorders.  Everyone knows that that is simply right wing rhetoric.

In reality, it's perfectly normal to talk about the largest threat to our democratic republic in our lifetimes.  It's expected that we should talk about the fellow that tried to undermine the 2020 election results and seize lost power.  It's appropriate to discuss the lack of leadership and lies that marked the Trump pandemic response.  I could go on because there was so much unprecedented corruption throughout the Trump administration that deserves ongoing examination and discussion.

As health professionals we should be able to recognize that a more abnormal response to a habitual liar who failed to mitigate a pandemic before inciting a coup attempt in a direct threat to our republic would be to pretend that none of that is very important and to spread propaganda misinformation in that fellow's defense.

I think the problem with Trump Derangement Syndrome not going away is that Trump himself is not going away.  He's still holding rallies like he's on the campaign trail.  He's still spewing rhetoric.  He still wants to keep himself front and center.  He's still spreading lies that he won the election, that inflation and the war in Ukraine never would have happened.   Politicians are too afraid to shut him up, and indeed far seeking his approval.

If he's shut up, maybe we'd forget out him.

I think we're seeing some Biden Derangement Syndrome starting. "Biden's policies are causing blah blah blah and destroying America.(see Ms. Sanders Tweet above)  Biden caused gas prices, inflation, the war in Ukraine never would have happened under Trump, the border surge which never would have happened under Trump, and the rise in crime which never would have happened under Trump .  This is a very important message for the Republicans to get across as the mid-terms are approaching.  "Americans are hurting".  "Liberal cities aren't Safe".  "Gas prices out of control".  "Criminals at the border and infected covid carriers coming in and getting free stuff through an open border".  Blame Biden.  Fair enough he's the President.

For a while it's fair to keep talking about a former President for a while into a new administration, sometime we have to stop.  We did it with Bush, it was always "well you weren't upset when Bush did....".   We did it with Obama and there were people that said "when are you going to stop giving Obama credit for handing Trump a good economy and give Trump credit for the economy".  I think about a year in while it might be fair to see how Trump set us up for our current situation, it's also time to stop talking about him ever single time a topic come ups and look at what Biden is and isn't doing.

At the end of the day my opinion is that if Trump is not going away he's a target and deserves to be talked about it.

One thing for sure is that people are hurting.

I have middle class privilege my way of cutting back is to not eat out as much, rent a movie instead of going out, streaming music instead of buying albums.  But I'm feeling the pinch and the grocery store as well and have to really watch my budget.  I had to add a $1000 from my emergency fund to my escrow because my homeowners rose $900 a year.

I want to start a bathroom remodel and really can't afford it as I waited too long.

I can't imagine what families living paycheck to paycheck are doing.

Although forecasters say March could be the high-water mark for inflation, consumer prices are likely to keep climbing at an uncomfortably fast pace for the rest of this year, continuing to put a particular strain on the families that can least afford it.

Exactly Tweety. Liberals aren't going to shut up about Trump while 1) republican voters show every intention of reelecting him while they send his unwise choices to congress and 2) there has been no public justice for his brazen attempt to undo our democratic republic.
