Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!

Dr Fauci is more than an academic, he is a practiced and respected clinician as well.
I know he is and I trust his knowledge up to 90%, but I also know that he doesn't know everything and that he's a political animal, based on how cultured his responses are. He rarely ever loses his cool, even when surrounded by absurd idiots like in the Trump administration and I don't completely trust people who don't put people in their places, especially in extreme circumstances. What's more important, people's lives or refuting loudly about bleach, sunshine or HCQ?
Admittedly, Trumpidiots wouldn't have listened, but seeds sometimes have grown on stony soil.
Between Fauci's sheltered lifestyle and political inclinations, I trust his advice up to 90% and I trust my logic up to 100%!
And what's the harm ever in being prudent?

Too many unvaccinated people who are capable of creating their own variants that could sneak pass the vaccine. I'm not taking any chances. I'm young and healthy, but the virus doesn't know that. I know too much biology to take chances.
I would bet serious money that we haven't seen all the long term effects as yet. If so many systems have been affected, who's to say that like herpes or HIV, this virus doesn't hide itself well enough for later surprises? We absolutely know that neurological effects occur, either directly or indirectly? We also know that the body evolved from incorporating genes from many sources and modifying them to suit its purpose, mostly with great success, but not always!
As amazing as our body is, evolution is a practice of trial and error and EVENT'S catalysts!
I believe that this maybe such an event? Too many mutations in too many populations too quickly!
ONE ABSOLUTE I AM TOTALLY SURE OF, even my father made mistakes, that I observed and I have never met anyone so calculating and cold and so able to pool knowledge from so many different sources and see the big picture! And he made mistakes!
Did Einstein or Oppenheimer see the effects of their theories and works? Dr Fauci might be brilliant, BUT HE'S AN ACADEMIC!
HE hasn't lived in the real world for a long time! He's a product of the information that he receives. Being a good psych nurse I am a student of behaviors and we are a product of the software we possess. And I don't trust academics to know the real world.
I trust PEOPLE TO MAKE MISTAKES!
Fair enough and I'm all for people making their own decisions based on how they process the information they are given. I like that at least your decisions aren't based on conspiracy theories.
I also know that science isn't always exact and as more information comes out recommendations and information changes. Sometimes theories are blown to bits and sometimes validated.
With our low rate of vaccination, you are 100% correct that some variant that is resistant will break through the vaccinated. That is logical.
Still there is such good news about the vaccine, with hospitalizations and sickness decreasing.
I'm reminded of the days when it was established that AIDS was a blood born and sexually transmitted disease without a doubt. People still kicked people out of swimming pools and schools "because we just don't know 100%". What I do not like is when science presents information that people don't want to hear like before the vaccine "you should wear a mask and social distance" and people say "no we don't". And now "you can take your mask off" and it's "no, I'm not taking that chance".
But since this is more of a political thread and there are plenty of other threads about covid, this is all I'll say.
I still say Pelosi is being political and not scientific in her stubbornness about making the vaccinated wear masks when the CDC is saying they don't have to. She's not helping.
No, I don't agree that Fauci is a political guy.
The CDC recommendations for masking don't say that the unvaccinated must be allowed to go maskless indoors. Pelosi has determined that too many republicans won't behave honorably so she has not allowed the honor system when it comes to the unvaccinated wearing masks. There may well be vulnerable people in that hostile work environment. We already know that there are people who are aggressively anti-mitigation among the representatives.
Fauci is a public servant and has served under several presidents of both parties, so it's difficult for me to see how he is politic. His statements don't always please one side or another, most often the right, but he makes them anyway.
The lack of people following the honor system, a valid concern, is why a lot of people I talk to are still wearing a mask. Fair enough. I also would like to hope that those vulnerable people working with congress are themselves vaccinated and taking proper precautions. Also I know there are people that can't be vaccinated. I wonder though how long us healthy vaccinated people need to be masked and social distance. At what percentage of positivity or rates of infection can we proceed. Again, if a healthy belligerent unvaccinated congressperson infects another one I don't care. Do I still need to wear a mask and force them to wear a mask? Should I care about them infecting each other when they can't hurt me?
Anyway speaking of covid. Michael Flynn is babbling that covid was made up to win the election. Can't believe he's getting interviewed in the first place, but still putting out such garbage.
Quote"When you look around the world, why do all these places not have the problems that we keep getting beat over the head and shoulders on in this country when it comes to Covid?"
Really? He didn't see what went on in Europe? How about Brazil? How about what is currently going on in India?
If it was an "election infection" why is it still around? They won the election why are they still pretending it's a problem?

I don't know of any successful administrator who isn't somewhat political. How did he survive the Trump administration, if he wasn't?. I think he's being irresponsible advising re taking the masks off in certain places. I always lean towards safety, especially in a world of airplanes where irresponsible Russians, Indians, Chinese, Mexicans, Australians and Brazilians etc not to mention the idiotic anti vaxxers here, may mutate the next variant.
Don't forget that we are the premier Med seekers in the world and who knows what anti viral immunity may have evolved that can be the weak link for a lethal variant?
As medical professionals we should all know of the push to boosting or supplementing the immune system re lots of current pathology. This is because we are now aware that the immune system is maybe superior re dealing with affliction. Viruses have evolved to survive, by bypassing or even harnessing the immune system. I'm not taking chances with an organism?, that is so adept. It is their strength and I will be wearing my mask everywhere possible.
I know I've become germophobic somewhat lately but until I have absolutely definitive proof, it stays on!
Rick Santorum not considering American Indians as native Americans = white supremacy and tone deaf.
Kamila Harris shames the nation when she wiped her hand after shaking hands with the South Korean President. A Republican would have been ripped to shreds being called a racist and would have been canceled. The hypocrisy of the liberal media for not being outraged is stunning.

"Shames" is a stretch, IMHO. I immediately wondered why he wasn't briefed on a "no hand shaking" policy during this pandemic.

I was thinking the same thing. Why did she shake his hand in the first place? But I think now they are role modeling normal behavior is possible by the vaccinated such as not wearing masks and shaking hands?
Prime Minister locked out of parliament by the opposition!
Just wondering if this reminds anyone of recent January events?
On the same par as Samoa. No disrespect intended to Samoa.
Belarus president diverting an international flight to abduct a reporter. Is this similar to taking reporters personal items and work?
On the same par as Belarus!
Simply no shame acting like this is medieval times!
