What are your scores in Saunders and Lacharity?

Published

I have been studying almost 2 weeks with 3 weeks left before I test. I am averaging 70-75% in Saunders (RN 5 Ed.) and a very low 50-60% in Lacharity. I love Lacharity for the information I am gaining from it but hate it for smacking down my confidence! I am also going to be using exam cram more in the coming weeks. Anyway what do you think scores should be in these books before taking the NCLEX?

Just wondering if I am screwed because I study hard for many hours and even though I am confident my scores will be improving it's kind of discouraging because I feel like i'm already doing everything I can. Thanks for the info!

Hi xx,

I would highly caution you against relying on your test scores. I made that mistake with Kaplan averaging mid-50s to mid-60s on all Q Trainers and failed...twice! I was right in the range of what they said was passing--imagine my surprise. Went my own way the 3rd time and just concentrated on answering questions and understanding rationales and passed at 75 (didn't take one practice test). Nobody is ever 100% ready for this test; just get as close to 100% as you can and get it done!

You'll really drive yourself nuts if you freak out about practice test scores. All the best!

When I first used the Lacharity book I got a 40% in the Pain chapter, and as I continued the book my scores would improve to 60% range. You got to hate the "put in order" questions in that book, lol very confusing. The important thing is read the rationales of your wrong answers. I totally agree with uaefan, you shouldn't get too much caught up with the scores as it will only be frustrating if you scored low. There will be days when you will be scoring high, there will be days when they will be borderline or not so good. But the important thing is that you know what the question is asking, eliminate and then choose from there, read the rationales and go over your weak points :) Good luck
