What does an NP do when they move

Published

I am a new Family Nurse Practitioner and am having a hard time finding the kind of job with the hours that I need. I am considering moving and was wondering what process to go through to practice in another state. I would appreciate any feedback

I would also like to hear the replies to this thread. I am a WHNP graduate who is preparing to take boards next month. I am unsure of which state to become licensed in as my husband and I are living overseas until March/April when my husband's commitment to the US Army is finished (and unsure of where we'll end up!). Any feedback is appreciated. :)

Check with the BON of the state you want. You might also check out the Pearson Report: http://webnp.net/downloads/pearson_report09/ajnp_pearson09.pdf

Agree with zenman. You will need to contact the BON in which you wish to reside and follow their directives about becoming licensed as an APN in that state.

Here is a list of BON:

Thanks, appreciate the info

Pretty much, it's no big deal. Most BONs just want $$$ to change your license to their state, but remember that each state is different and the things you could do in one state may be against the Nurse Practice Act in another.
