What does a new med surg nurse need to know?

I just got a job as a tenet med surge nurse. I will be starting in about a week.

What do I absolutely need to know when I walk in the door?

I am reviewing very basic skills: IV, med administration, wound care, when to change lines, endings of drugs, central line care, trach care, how to take and give report.

What other basic skills to I need to refresh on?

Do you know of any cheat cheats I need to have on me to look up info I should know.

I am having a one week orientation. Are there any tests that I need to prepare for?
