What makes a successful OR nurse?

Would appreciate some advice from experienced OR nurses. Have been in this specialty 1 1/2 years, straight out of nursing school. Have school-age kids, so the eight-hour shifts worked well with my family. I still have days when I wonder, "Is this really nursing, or is it about equipment, paperwork, and ministering to surgeons, along with a huge dose of patient safety? My co-workers and manager are great, still, sometimes I wonder if I'm really the right person for this specialty. Have I made a mistake not going to the floor first? I always enjoyed going to the OR when I was in nursing school. :twocents:
