I love being a PDN. I love my kiddos and I love when I can make something better for them or easier. There is small things I love too. I love being a taste tester for Gram's sauce or being asked my opinion if Mom's shirt is professional enough for a job interview.
What about you all?

When the rapport between me as the RN and the family works and we improve the quality of life for their loved one(s) because of it. When it works it is visible in leaps and bounds in the patient (where improvement is possible). Also, when my little patients get excited to see that I am the RN today. I love that! I still get all the treatments and meds in, but we have a good time doing it.
I love that I am fortunate that I can take time to perform certain treatments at the acceptance of the patient. I don't have to worry about 6 other patients or managers being upset because it's taking so long to calm a crying or apprehensive child down. That part is great; I would hate to have to just get it done without letting them have some control over a bad situation. Even kids need control over scary situations.
Honestly, if it weren't for money because my loans, I'd do PDN for fragile children forever. I just love working with the kids in their own settings. A lot depends on the parents and families, so when it works right it's magical.

When it's good, it's crazy good. Especially if you have a quiet family who lives in a peaceful house.
I like the unique-ness of it.
I like the ever-changing cases. Meeting new people.
I like seeing people's homes. Lol!
I'll pop in again and post more things I like- after work!

Getting to watch kids grow up and become a real part of their lives.
Working independently
Actually getting to educate families and help them implement treatment plans rather than handing them discharge paperwork
Playing spectator to crazy family drama. It's like watching Maury or Jerry Springer sometimes, and it's damn entertaining.
