For all of you out there that love your nursing career, what is it about nursing that you really enjoy? If you could do it all over again, would you choose nursing?
Thanks!

SCRUBS!!! I love scrubs, I love the comfort and the wide variety of colors and prints to fit every personality and every mood. I love that a full career's wardrobe is CHEAP (compared to heels and hose). Easy and fun and cheap....what else could anyone ask for!!!! We get to wear COMFORTABLE SHOES!!!! No major foot surgeries or deformaties noted!! HEHEHE :lol2:
I LOVE that I never stop learning, and never get bored....I can change jobs practically as often as I want!!! I LOVE THAT!!! I LOVE being challenged.
I LOVE that I am in demand and can work anywhere I want (practically). That often I feel very appreciated where I work.
I LOVE that at least occasionally, I feel that I really made a difference with someone.

Portability! That may seem odd... but my first career was tied to residency requirements, civil service tests and "who you know" in order to even get a job. When I got out of nursing school, it was like a cinder block had been taken off my head. I could work anywhere! There were pages of jobs, not just one rumor somewhere of a job maybe.
Getting my BSN meant I could say to my husband (in a hard-to-get-work profession): "Find the job of your dreams. Wherever it is, we're there!". That has been a wonderful, marvelous thing in my life.

I love being able to help people (in my case, babies and children) and the parents in order to cope with their childs illness.
I love being able to move to different areas. I love having a career that is in demand.
I love nursing!
My only regret is that I would have kicked my ex to the curb sooner and got my education

Oh, I did choose all over again and I chose nursing and I wish I would have done it sooner!

I love working with a team.
I love the fast-paced environment.
I love the flexibility.
I love the constant change.
I love the fact that I am only responsible for a patient while I am at work. When I go home, someone else takes over! (This is one of the reasons I didn't go to medical school.)

I love that when I take a family member back to the OR suite, I have put the family at ease that I will do my very best to take care of their loved one. I love that they believe in me.
I love to tell everyone that I am a nurse. Even though I have only been doing this for about 8 months, I love the respect and team work of my team in the OR.

I am constantly learning and challenging myself. I also love when the patients and other nurses compliment me on my style. I like mobility...there is always a way to make money as a nurse. And, I like the access to medical material and understanding what is happening when I watch medical documentaries on television. What I do hate is that the hospital I am working at mandated us to wear white. I have a hard time keeping it clean and during that time of the month, I am always self-consious.

I love smelling new babies.
I love watching mommies and/or daddies holding their new babies close to them.
I love watching daddies' eyes tear up as they hold their son or daughter for the first time.
I love reassuring families that their baby is perfectly normal.
I love watching big brother/sister's face light up when they see their new baby.
I love being able to meet the needs of a family that has lost a baby, whether in utero or in NICU.
I love it when a patient says, "You are so very kind. Thank you for all your help tonight."
I love it that I can work a schedule that allows me to stay home with my child 5 days a week and still be able to pay the bills. (weekend option -- yeah!)
I love it that people say to me, "You hold people's lives in your hands. What you do is important."
I love most of my coworkers and most of the physicians.
I love it that if I don't like one job, I can find another without a lot of to-do.
I love it that I am a nurse. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
