Hi,

I have just graduated in the Detroit/Flint area and about to begin my Nursing job hunt. Does anyone have any info about who is offering the best pay/benefit packages? Any pitfalls that you guys can help avoid for my first nursing job? I really would enjoy getting on a Pediatric or OB floor but I am flexible.

University of Michigan Health Systems has EXCELLENT benefits.

Full medical insurance from the FIRST DAY OF WORK.

For every one dollar you put away, the employer puts two (up to 5%).

16 hours Paid time off per month (assuming 40 hr/wk).

U of M also has a nurses union.

Here is the benefits page. http://www.med.umich.edu/nursing/benefits.htm

Good Luck!

I work at the University of Michigan...

They have great benefits, although the pay may not be the greatest. I personally thinkit is a reat hospital for nursing.
