It depends on which school you're referring to. I don't go to a community college so I don't know....but you could go to the particular school website and check out their prerequisite requirements.

The JCs out here require basic college math... sort of an Intro to Algebra kind of thing. Pretty rudimentary stuff that most people can handle unless they've got a math learning disability.

My CC requires college alegebra, not really an intro course. Elementary and Intermediate algebra courses (or qualifying test scores) are required to get into college algebra.
love2nurse4life, if you have trouble with math you should take full advantage of your college's tutoring center. I sounds like you have math anxiety. The learning center at your school may offer classes to help you code, mine does. Just go in and ask what resources are available to help students struggling with math.
I'd also like to recommend some software. It is called College Algebra Solved! (the exclaimation point is part of the name). Google it. I think it is around $40. In high school I only had pre-algebra. When I went back to school I took the placement test and barely tested into elementary algebra. I used that software with a book called Practical Algebra: A Self-teaching Guide (you can get it at Amazon) and in less than a week I was able to bring my score up from barely testing into Elementary Algebra to easily testing into precalculus.
