What is a good health insurance for part time nurses?

Published

I want to leave my full time job or at least work part time. My job is so stressful and I want to work less days and slowly get out of nursing when my home based business kicks in.

The prioblem is every single time I talk about going part time my dad starts talking about my insurance benefits. I am so tired of all of this. I wish I could get laid off. This will never happen where I work.

So is there any insurance that isnt so costly that I can purchase on my own if I go part time?

Please help

I think u need to hunt for another job. There are other jobs much less stressful- I promise.

I work for a corporation that offers health insurance to its part-time nurses who work at least two 12 hour shifts per week. They are a national chain of rehab hospitals with several locations in the state where you live.

As of January 1 the ACA mandates that your state will be offering either an exchange to help you choose a plan that works for you, or access to a federal exchange (in those states that don't want to serve their residents in this way).

I live in Massachusetts, where we have had mandatory health insurance for years. As a self-employed person I chose my plan (with a big HMO) via the exchange. It works fine.

You can also call your friendly insurance broker-- the one who writes your homeowner's/renter's, car, and umbrella policies-- and as for a selection.

I agree with your dad that you need to carry health insurance. You just never know what could happen.
