What is CNA traing class like???

When I took my class I was there M-F from 1-4p. The class lasted about 12 weeks. 6 weeks was classroom stuff, 3 weeks was lab practice, 2 weeks was actual clinical, and the last week was spent doing resumes, applying to take the certifying exam, interview skills, etc. It went by really quick.

I thought it was pretty easy stuff to learn, but we did have a few fail the class. A lot of it involves knowing what your scope as a CNA entails and what you can be delegated to do. Towards the end, the classroom did get a bit boring, but I just tried to learn as much as I could from the instructor. I enjoyed the lab and clinical b/c you actually get to practice the skills.

If you have already taken your A&P I & II and Micro, this class is going to be a breeze. The class I took was geared toward people with no background whatsoever so it was painfully basic since I was finished with all my prereq's when I took it. If you haven't had your A&P's and Micro, it will be a nice introduction to them. I talked to people who did not have these classes and they said that the CNA class was still pretty simple. Thanks... I'm in Physiology right now... I finished Anatomy last semester (my school seperates them)... so hopefully it will be a lot of review (which is a good thing..) I just don't want to be bored... not that it isn't interested or challenging.. it's just that my attention span is that of a 2 yr old and 8 hours a day for 5 weeks is more than my little brain can handle... :lol2:

You really wont get a lot of review of much of the anatomy or physiology. Most of the nursing assistant training is a lot of common sense things. When I took it in MN only an hour or so of the class was lecture, then you went to the lab and learned something. It really helpped keep my short attentionspan happy.

Hey there, fellow Minnesotan ;-)

I have my last clinical today, and I will test out next friday. I was also worried that it would get boring to be in school M-Th for 5 hours every day, but actually, it went by really fast. I thought the class was fun. Most of our instructors kept it interesting with stories from their own experience etc.

I have not taken any other classes yet, and I can still say that the class is very very easy. It really is mainly common sense stuff.

Since you're also here in MN, what school are you going to? I am at Ridgewater College, and they also seperate Anatomy and Physiology.

Hi there i alreadt have a degree and im planning to switch to a medical degree like Associates in Nursing or BSN.. what are the classes or pre reqs that i need to take ?

That depends on the specific requirements for the program(s) you're applying to, scuderiax.

THE CNA class is easy but I wasn't that bored. A lot of the people in my class had personal experience with caregiving for relatives so we had lots of stories.

I had my class it was 5 weeks long on saturday and sundays 8-5. Because it was such a short class I was never bored. We went over a 300 page text book and learned 36 skills in 3 weekends, and then shadowed cna's at the ltc we did our clinicals at for 2 weekends. It was so fast paced I had no time to be bored. I really enjoyed my class and I think because I had a teacher that started as a CNA and is now a DON at an LTC it really helped with my learning experience.

Hi, CNA class is basics on how to take care of a person..pretty much if u know how to take care of yourself then you will be fine..when i took my course and then got a job i can honestly say there is a lot they don't teach you in CNA that is on the job, that's where clinicals come in handy..and don't worry if u are interested in the healthcare field and science you shouldn't be bored...good luck!

Depends on the the classes that you already have and what type of degree you want to get in nursing..with an associates you can go to a community college for a 2 years, their prereqs are usually Chemistry, Anatomy and physiology, biology if u haven't had it in the past five years, Algebra, Mircrobiology, Intro to Sociology, Human Growth, Speech, Composition, Psychology, and if u wants a degree like in a hospital then add statistic, logical and critical thinking, intro to computers, and for a bsn all those classes just in the 300's like Social Psychology 323..it gets harder the higher you decide to go as well im sure you already new that..and good luck!!!
