I am going back to child psych. It has been many, many years since I have worked with kids at psych. I cannot remember up to how old most psych units consider kids still a child. Does anyone know?
I am a little nervous because I have been working med surg/ortho surg adult, but I am looking for a change from the floor and I remember liking the children. Where I was before got dangerous. I am going back to a hopefully safer place now.
I hope not too much has changed in 7 years.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
At my hospital we take them until they turn 18. There are units that are more dangerous than others but I think each unit has its pros and cons. Good luck and please keep us posted.

Where I work there is a kids unit (age 6-12) and two adolescent units (one for males and one for females) which I believe covers 13-18.
