WGU RN-BSN December 2017. Advice/support appreciated!

Nursing Students Western Governors

Published

Hello fellow nurses!

I'm quickly approaching my start date....school again, after 17+ years! I'm super excited and a bit nervous of course. Any current or recent students have any helpful advice to throw my way? I know there's the new intro class & biochem format. I also have to take good 'ol statistics, which will be a first for me. I'm hoping to finish my BSN in 1 year (2 terms), and I believe I have 43 credits. Thanks for any feedback or advice!

How is everyone doing so far? I started A/P 2 and am now wondering how I passed nursing school! I think I must be making it harder than it is. I am currently waiting for the class mentor to call and help me understand some very seemingly basic, but hard for me, concepts. :)

I am glad A/P transferred in for me. I took it quite awhile ago and remember the difficulty of it still. It was the hardest course I took overall in nursing school. I am working my way through as as I am trying to fast track, I have already made alot of head way in stats, communication and am halfway through the live communication class. So far so good!

How is everyone doing so far?? I started Dec. 1, 2017 and am about halfway through A/P 2, in the middle of the required online cohort and have started Stats. So far I am doing OK. I have a great student mentor that is encouraging in every way, so I feel fortunate there. I am hopeful to finish in a year, but really WISH I could finish in 6 months! lol! If anyone has information on some of the actual nursing classes and want to share which were the hardest/easiest and how long they usually take, that would be GREAT! :)

Hey there! Sounds like we're on a similar path so far. Plodding through stats & finishing the live cohort soon (oh those videos..) ;) I'm also curious about other classes & timeframes. The Facebook page has lots of people going crazy fast though classes, so it's a bit intimidating! I'll be happy getting done in 2 terms! My mentor also seems good, so hopefully that'll help!

Hi, I am an RN to BSN. I highly enjoyed this program. It was a lot of work. Even though it's online and competency based it requires A LOT of time and energy. I worked full time and worked on school work on EVERY day off. I was unable to complete the program in 1 term it was just too much work. Some classes you can finish in a couple of days, some took me 1 month to 3 months. Take advantage of all the cohorts and it's videos within each course. They were super helpful!! Utilize your course mentor, they are nurses themselves and offer lots of tips. I'm so happy I chose , it's affordable and worth the time and energy. The curriculum is easy to access and the library was fabulous. Also, check out the course chatter sometimes students ask questions you may be asking yourself. I'm actually awaiting my results for my last class. It took me to 2 FULL terms to complete. I also did this program pregnant and sick as a dog, which made it hard to focus. Hopefully by the end of the day I'll have my BSN!! Good luck, it's worth the time and energy! It's doable with ease in 2 terms.

How awesome!!! Congrats on the soon to be BSN!! I'm aiming for 2 terms as well, and yes all I've been doing is homework...dang! I appreciate your comment & perspective. I just passed statistics last night, thank god! ;)

Curious if all in this program were RN to BSN. I have a bachelors in something completely unrelated and am considering the BSN program without any previous licensing. Thank you for any info!
