LVN adanced placement California

I wanted know if any lvns did the challenge exams for the prelicensure program for ?

I know there are those who would disagree with lvns having advanced placement in an RN program. But since I became an LVN I hit the ground running. I've always taken the inititave to learn as much as I can from whoever I could. I have a few years of experience where I've learned and accomplished so much. I've worked in plenty of facilities where I'm more experienced than some RN's. I'm just ready to take the next step without wasting more time. I just need my education and experience to count for something.

Any advice would help!

I didn't know you could do this! I've been an LVN for almost 4 years now.

Most colleges offer the option. mentions that it can be done. However the information is very vague. They only state that they administer ATI exams for challenge and that all the nursing courses can be challenged. So I wouldn't know where to begin to study for the exams.

LVN's would go through the entire program just like everyone else. You can't skip anything, but you'll probably get a leg up during clinicals.

A degree can be earned in so many ways today. I never implied to simply skip over essential information. However this question is geared toward any experienced nurses who where able to advance themselves in the program without repeating information they already learned in school as a lvn/lpn.

I went to two different BSN programs. The second one would not just simply accept credits from the first. They made me take challenge exams to get credit for the courses I had previously completed.

Edited: I meant to add that they called it "advanced placement" while I just saw it as catching up to where I should have been. I was lucky to get that option. Most schools don't accept nursing courses from other schools at all.

I did a pilot program at a cal state that let people test out of classes due to lvn experience. I wouldn't recommend it, a lot of the students passed their test but I think probably needed that review because a lot didn't pass nclex the first or second time.

I think you are misinformed. The PL program at does not offer any means of 'challenging' out of courses. I work in this program.
