Western Governor's Pre-Licensure CA/TX

Hey everyone,

I recently applied to So California's pre-licensure program and got denied. I have a decent overall GPA however my TEAS score isn't fab: 70. I was told by my counselor that California is super competitive and although I have every pre-req completed and then some for my degree, I would have to re-take the TEAS and score in the 90's to be considered. :nailbiting: I have been doing my research and it seems that WGU has been accepting MANY students in Texas with much much lower TEAS scores. I have seen people stating they were accepted with scores in the 60's. I would love any input on those of you that have had a similar experience or were accepted in Texas or elsewhere on the West coast or those of you that may have been accepted into California's program with a score lower than the 90's. I'm trying to figure out what I have to do to get in!!! Please fill me in with your GPA/TEAS. I am absolutely considering moving wherever I need to in order to pursue my nursing degree. Thanks!

It was too competitive for me in California so I applied to Texas and got accepted

Really??? Did you apply several times to CA before you tried TX? Do you mind giving me your stats? GPA & Teas score or experience if any? I am thinking I will try. I was under the impression you could only apply to a campus near you though, even considering I would move if accepted. I just thought it wasn't an option.

I was also denied in ca. I had a 78 on my teas. My next step is to retake the teas next month and hopefully raise my score. If that does not work I'm not sure what to do next

I think my teas was in the mid 60s but I'm not sure that was years ago. Gpa from previous college 3.67, I chose not to waste time applying to Los Angeles or Pasadena because of my stats and the extreme number of applicants. Very minimal healthcare experience but more first responder experience. You can apply to any campus in US but know you can only apply to one at a time.

Oh I see, one at a time. Alright that make sense. Did any of you have families that you had to uproot and move along with you to Texas?

I have 4 kids and am completely fine with a change. California is way too competitive for me even on the community college level. I've applied to many schools with good grades but my teas score keeps holding me back it seems, so I will try Texas. What campus/cohort did you get into?
