Westchester community college admissions

Does anyone know the admissions process for westchester community college. Letters were supposed to go out this week and I am wondering what is means if you have do go in for an interview?

What is the average teas score for those who applied??

I am anxiously waiting to see if i have been accepted!!

Hi, I replied to your other post......I went to one of their nursing seminars a few weeks back and the prof that was in charge of the seminar basically said that if you are called for an interview then that means you have been accepted into their nursing program. You have to score very high on the TEAS exam. Approx 500 people applied to the RN program and they only have 40 seats.

If you are getting called for an interview that means you are in. Congrats. Good luck in the program because it is not easy. I am graduating in two weeks from the RN day program and it was a tough a journey but well worth it. Im not sure about the TEAS scores all I know is that is what they base when it comes to entering the program. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Blackpants... CONGRATULATIONS!!!!:yeah:

Thank you! Unfortunately, several of us are faced with the hiring freeze I am sure you are reading about, but I am going to stay positive and wait until I obtain my license (hopefully in June) and see what comes my way.

I have received a letter and am going in for my interview on Tuesday. I got a 93.5 on the TEAS so hoping for the best!

Thats an excellent score....pretty sure you are in! What was your secret for taking the TEAS? Did you use the studyguide from ATI?

Yes, I used the ATI guide book. I went over every word of every page in that thing. I have been out of school for 25 years so it was a good review, especially for things like spelling and grammar rules. I am taking Dosage Calculations online at WCC this semester so that was a great practice for the Math section. The only problem in the ATI guide is the Science section - I don't think it is as helpful as it could be. The science is all over the place, from Geology to Chemistry to Microbiology. I bought another Nursing School Entrance Exam book that had a better science section.

Hi all,

Just wanted to contribute to the blog b/c I know a lot of people are wondering where they stand in the admissions process to WCC nursing. I am fortunate enough to have received an interview letter this week for the day time program. I, like everyone else, was stressing and sweating for the last 5 weeks since I took the TEAS exam. Somebody on this posting got a 93.5 after not being in school for 25 yrs! Congrats! That, I assume, is one of the top scores. I received an 85.9% on the TEAS exam. I am just telling everyone so that they have an idea of the range of scores so far. Back in december I went to a nursing workshop given by Dale Smith, acting director of admissions. He said that the range of scores for the day time program last year started at 83.2% for the day and 80.7% for the night program. So I hope this posting helps some people understand what these TEAS scores represent.

As for the TEAS exam...STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY! But the book from ATI and do the practice exams online. The studying can get gritty at times, especially with the science and the grammar/english usage sections. But keep at it. Somebody posted that they bought the other nursing entrance exam books as well...heads up move!

Good luck to everybody.

Thanks for the reply. I am also using other sources for the science portion. All the best to you! Hope I get a good score too. ;)

Thanks for your info and sharing your score too.

Congratulations to all who've gotten in! I'm a little worried because it's May 11 and I haven't received anything in the mail yet:cry:. Is this a bad sign?

Hi everyone -

I forgot to ask, what kind of math is on the TEAS exam for WCC? In the study guide it goes from Algebraic Expressions Integers, Rational Numbers, Percents, Ratios, Pythagorean Theorem etc etc... what do I really need to focus on?

Thanks in advance.
