Hello, I was wondering if anyone is currently attending West Coast University, BSN program? I am also looking for any graduates. I would like to ask a few questions about the program that they didn't answer in their meeting I went to.
What is your schedule like?
How many days a week do you attend?
What are clinical days like?
Do they have any scholarships available?
What do you like most about the program?
What do you like least?
Please include any other thing you things you think I would want to know.

Hi there,
I have been attending WCU since January of this year.
Basically, you will begin your Gen Ed classes (science + what WCU requires, such as patho, cultural pluralism, capstone, critical reasoning) and then move into CORE classes.
In Gen Ed classes, I attended the school 1-3 days a week. Classes are on campus, blended or online. Now that I am in CORE, I go to school 3 times a week and a clinical site, so a total of four days. Clinical is usually a 12 hour rotation at a hospital/clinic supervised by your professor.
If this is your first bachelor's, you may be eligible to receive FAFSA or CAL grant.
I like this program because there was little wait time. I was 27 when I began prenursing so I wanted to finish the entire program by 30. Had I waited to hear from another State University, I would be graduating a year or two later.
WCU has no actual break. The ONLY break in the entire year is the Christmas break, which is 12 days. Other than that, you will be in school for the rest of the year with 4-7 days of break every 10 weeks.
let me know if you have any more questions.
Thank you for responding to my post. Are some of the classes or clinical on the weekends? I also heard that if a student fails 2 times they are kicked out of the program; what score is failing? What kind of testing is required to pass each class? Is the testing hard? Thank you again.
Yes, some of the clinical rotations and skills are on the weekends. Skills is a class where you learn the procedures that you will use during your clinical rotations. I have never heard anyone say their Gen Ed or other classes being in the weekends. Yes, if you fail 2 times (i think they made it 3 recently) you are kicked out of your program. So in Gen Ed, I think passing is a C or a 73% I think. And for CORE, you have two types of grades and you must pass both of them with a 76% or higher. The two types are: 1) overall grades & 2) quizzes + midterm + final. Gen Ed testings are done on paper + online but in CORE, ALL of the testing will be online (ATI + Blackboard). Testings are generally okay. If you pay attention in class and review the material and read the assigned reading, you should be okay. I have a 3.81 GPA and I have been generally a hard-working student. You have your professors & student tutoring services in order to help you get to where you want.

Hi @amedictorn ! Thank you for the information about WCU. I am in term 1 of my GE and will be starting core in October. Are clinical days only 1 day for the rest of core nursing or will there be two days of clinical? Thanks!
