I've been trying to get into one of the full A&P II classes by pure luck, and I just happened to look up the class and it's available, but it's a web course. There's a couple of labs that go with it that I can take on campus, but is it a good idea to take the lecture class online? Do they just assign chapters to read or are there videos of the class to watch? I took a&p I in a classroom and it was difficult. Any advice from anyone out there who has taken it online, maybe? Should I just wait til spring and take it in a classroom? Thanks everyone!

I've never taken one but I highly suggest you check with the nursing programs you plan on applying to to see if they will accept them. My friend took AP 1 online and 2 as a regular class. The school she was accepted into would not accept the online science course so she had to retake it. Needless to say she was not happy.
Well the online class is offered by the community college I go to where the nursing program that I will be applying to is also at, so I'm not 100% certain, but I doubt they would offer something like that at their own college and not accept it? Just what I'm thinking, maybe I'm wrong.

But also if you are going to apply to another school or go on to BSN it could become a problem. the big thing is how is the class listed, does the title indicate that it was an online class? If not another school will probably not know. Personally I do not like to do sciences online, as there is just ssssoooo much more in detail that the instructors can go into, or ask questions, etc. Many schools have the lectures recorded and you watch those. You could always try then withdraw if you need to.
good luck!

I took A&P II online, at the school where I am attending NS. It's the only A&P II class they offer, as a matter of fact. I enjoyed it, took a lot from it and feel like I learned more -because I was forced to go through most of it on my own. The online tests are super easy and you still have to know the material because they're timed. It's not 100% open book like most assume, simply because you wouldn't have time to take the full test and look up every answer. Most A&P classes have a corresponding lab, so we met once a week for a 3 hour lab time to ask/answer questions and use models on the school campus.

Like the others have said, definitely check with the program advisors and administrators. On a side note, if you've never taken an online class before, be cautious. It can be a real time saver, but you need to be assertive and treat it just as you would classroom instruction. I've seen too many start and ultimately fail because thy took the online version of the class too lightly....and those were gen. ed. classes like Eng Comp I, Western Civ, etc.
I'm not trying to scare you off by any means, because online is sometimes they way to go.

I love online classes, but I would not be able to teach myself that much information. Only you can decided, but personally I would try to take it on campus with a really good professor. Everyone says you need to know you A & P all through out nursing school so it's an important subject.
Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'm just going to wait until spring. I don't feel comfortable taking it online and it is such an important class so I feel I need that one on one with a teachers instruction.
