Specializes in ICU.

Hi,

I am currently here in WA on a travel nursing assignment and ran into someone who would like to become a nurse but doesnt have the $ to pay for school right now. I suggested getting her CNA, then working for a hospital that offers tuition reimbursement. She asked me to help her look, but since I'm not from here, I dont know much. Can anyone help me? (p.s. I'm in the Tacoma area... I also don't know where a good CNA class would be).

Thank you for any help in advance.

Specializes in Emergency Nursing.

I got my CNA training many years ago at the Puget Sound Healthcare Center in Olympia and it was free. Also, I was employed as a CNA while working at the Providence Health System and going to nursing school and they helped me with a reasonable chunk of the cost.

I'm not sure about anywhere else.

Try the DOH web site. They show different nursing homes that offer CNA class for free. Most schools require you to have your CNA. Try Evergreen Healthcare. Auburn.

I got my CNA training at the Nursing Assistant Training Institute (i know, generic name) in Shoreline, WA, which is the first suburb north of seattle. I worked as a CNA at Ida Culver House and they paid my $300 tuition.
