Lacy, WA

  1. Any hospitals in the Lacy WA area? My friend just bought 3 homes there and told me it is beautiful. I could rent a home from her. I am a 10 year experienced labor/delivery room nurse. What pay could I expect? I make $36 an hour here in Phoenix.

    Hi!

There are 2 hospital in Olympia (Oly is connected to Lacey if you didnt know already). Capital Medical Center is the smaller community hospital - www.capitalmedical.com

St. Peter's Hospital is the bigger one. www.providence.org/swsa.

I'm not sure what they pay is, it's 22.74 for new grads at St. Pete, shift differentials are $2.50 for swing, $4.00 for nights, and $3.25 for weekends. I'd imagine you should make comparable pay since you have ten years.

You can find job listings for both hospitals on their websites.

There are also 2 hospitals in Tacoma, which is 30miles north (45min-1hr in traffic) Tacoma General is one, it has the best NICU south of Seattle, www.multicare.org

The other is St. Josephs www.fhshealth.org

    Hope that helps!

    Hey shortstuff!
I am starting my ADN at Clover Park in about 2 weeks. How do you know what the pay scale is at St Pete's? It's actually pretty good!!

I know because I had an interview there a few weeks ago LOL. The nurse recruiter told me all this over the phone even before the interview...The pay scale is pretty good, its slightly higher than the Tacoma hospitals, however I think the benefits are slightly better at the Tacoma hospitals if I remember right...in terms of vacation time, and sick leave, etc..

    Hello

I am new to these boards. I live in Lacey Wa. It is a beautiful place, like no other. Plenty of shopping, clean parks, a great place to raise a family. My first job as a nurse was at Mother Josephs Care Center, which is owned by Providence (same as St Pete's). Benfits were great-my husband was in the military, and since Providence is a non-profit org, and treat un&underinsured patients, they require staff to carry health insurance. Since husband provided full medical and dental ,I showed HR proof, and ended up pocketing my health spending account in my paycheck each month. Also, there were different options for coverage, and based on your family size (amazing, they think of your family too) you can choose where to spend your money. Housing market here is kinda high however- I have been around being a prior military spouse, but I beleive the rental rates are comparable to other area's of the country. Buying, you might be in for culture shock, but the median home prices are starting to decrease. (I'm in the market to buy myself)

Children? Please feel free to E-Mail me for questions regarding local education. Lacey was once known as a great 'bedroom' community, as it is a place where many people call home and travel. We are right along the I-5 corridor, so even commuting to Tacoma isnt too bad. Many commute to Seattle as well. Hope to hear form you

I am SHOCKED the wages are that low. Central WA where it's cheaper to live pays just as much. And, Spokane, on the east side, just as cheap almost to live as Central WA pays just slightly less. Seems to me they should pay better than that on the west side what with it being so expensive to live there. I was just considering a move to the west side myself but...not for less money!
