BSN new grade pay Wa. State?

U.S.A. Washington

Published

I am a new grad bsn nurse in washington state in the seattle area. I got my first job at a skilled nursing home facility just recently and was wondering if im getting paid competitively in state. This is also to ask what other new grad rn's starting pay was to compare. This way I can maybe negogiate my pay in the future. My starting hourly wage is 33/hr with a 10k sign on bonus for a 1 year contract. Is that low? Or should I be content.

The base pay is not all that bad for a nursing home. I saw some ads for nursing homes around Des Moines, WA for around $36 an hour with no sign on bonus. Your rate of $33 an hour puts you at $68648 a year ($33.00 * 2080), which does not include your sign on bonus. If you want to switch gears into corrections.. this listing with Maxim in Tacoma will get you close to $100,000 a year working 40 hours a week.

Thanks for the reply!! But do you think a base pay of 33 is a bit low for a new grad bsn rn in seattle??

That position looks good but I dont have 1 year experience yet. :/

I actually wanted to work at correction's but I applied in snohomish area and was not able to get the job. Really hard to find a good place to start as a new grad.

No, I don't think that it is that low for a new grad BSN in Seattle. Just apply for the job and see what happens. They have taken new grads before.

For Seattle that is good pay. I have seen people as new grad BSN working near downtown Seattle hospital get paid less than 30 per hour.. I got paid less than 30 when I first started in a skilled nursing facility
