The federal government has programs to help repay nursing school loans. These include benefits for directly working for the federal government after graduating; for example working at the Veterans Administration Hospital.
Under a different program it could mean committing to working in an underserved area for so many years. Sometimes this arrangement guarantees a salary in addition to loan repayment.
My question, is has anyone in this DC message board taken advantage of this kind of benefit and what has been your experience. Which underserved areas in this neck of the woods qualify as a place to work? I don't want to move and work on an Indian reservation.
