Was quite surprised to find the hospital canteen closed for lunch yesterday (New Years Eve) since it was not a bank holiday, and outpatient clinics etc where open.
Was your hospital canteen open? Our hospital had opened a small tea bar for you to buy stuff from which of course had a huge queue. We spent 15 mins of a 30 min break queueing up to buy something.
Bet none of the managers where at work yesterday.

We only have a cook-chill cabinet in a small staff room anyhow - & all the good stuff goes before nurses get a chance. Some ancillary staff even take loads of dinners home for their families as the food is subsidised & a main course only costs £1.40!!!!!
I know - it's truly unbelievable!!!!
However, when I worked on Boxing Day the chef cooked us a meal each, when he was doing the patients food & we got a hot, fresh, complimentary meal - & he did that for all staff on over the holiday period. I have to add thoug that we only had 2-3 patients with 2 staff on each shift over that time.
