I'm sure this poll has been done a million times but I'm really trying to decide if I want to go for the NP. I have fallen out of love with floor nursing due to lack of autonomy and other factors. I would love to hear from you guys about if becoming a NP gave you what you were looking for... Thanks!

Debatable. I also have an MPH and have found that, while I enjoy the busy-ness of seeing individual patients I enjoy project/program management a lot more. But it took me working as an NP to see that. I look at certain jobs for an RN or MPH and think, I would really like that. I would rather coordinate an immunization program than see patients all day, and slowly I am moving in that direction. So to answer your question yes, it gave me what I was looking for at that time... and then I grew as a person.

I'm in the first year of a program and am debating if I choose the wrong path... I've been a very strong bedside nurse and good supervisor. I'm wondering if I shouldn't change to either adiministration or education track.

I knew I wanted an MSN but wasn't sure what role I wanted so I got an MSN in management and leadership, then realized oops I don't like management!
So...I did an adult health CNS
Then....I realized that I limited my scope of practice
So....I'm doing a peds CNS
Moral of my story....look before you leap!

Yes it was the right choice for me. I couldn't be happier. So relieved to be off the floor and be able to work normal hours and live a regular life. It was totally worth the time, money, energy and total investment!!

Absolutely! I'm a PMHNP and love what I do. Can't imagine doing anything else that would give me more satisfaction.
