I am in the state of Texas and I have been in school for 5 years now working on pre-reqs to get my BSN. I have applied to the local accredited programs here 4 times and have been rejected 4 times ( applied every semester for 4 semesters). I am an A/B student and volunteer at one of the major hospitals. All of my professors and RNs I volunteer for tell me I would make a great nurse because I have the compassion needed and very knowledgeable. I want to be a nurse so bad I can taste it! Each time I get a rejection letter it is devastating! I feel at a cross road right now. I have invested 5 years of my life, and extremely hard work to attain my dream. I am not a young woman (mid 30s) and don't know what to do. Am I under an illusion that I am chasing a pipe dream that is not in the cards for me? Or do I take my rejections as "oh yeah, I'll show you" and work that much harder? How much more time of my life should I devote to this? I have one more school I haven't heard from yet...so there is a slight chance I still might make it. I wanted to put this out there. Am I the only one that has had this many rejections and still work towards it? Do I give up and say well obviously the universe don't want me to do this? Do I hang in there and convince myself one more time this will happen? Help???

Bsn programs are competitive and highly desired.
Have you considered retaking courses or the teas test to bump yourself up? You need to know the reasons for why you got denied a spot at the schools you applied to and go from there. You could also look to applying to other bsn programs. There are adn programs, which you could apply to.
Do you currently hold a bachelors from a different subject? You could technically do accelerated bsn if you did.
You could also do adn for 2 years then do rn to bsn.
It all depends on what you want to do.

How about an online course or a different school

Try getting into a LPN program and complete a LPN to RN bridge.

I agree with the other posts. Maybe you should apply to a couple of your local community colleges ADN program and once you receive your RN then work on getting your BSN.

Being rejected 4 times doesnt mean you should just give up necessarily. You need to know why you were rejected and try to change that. If it is for incomplete pre/co reqs that you are losing points on then finish those first. If it is a low teas/hesi score, then see if you are able to retake. Those scores usually expire at some point, so if you keep getting rejected you will eventually pass their expiration and be able to retake if you currently can't. If you need an admission essay, maybe re write on a different topic. Basically change what you can to try and get more points for your application.
If you have done everything you can and there is nothing you can change to up your points, then there is no point in continually applying because your scores still arent good enough to get in. At that point, do as others have suggested and try for an ADN program and then bridge over to BSN after you pass NCLEX. Or go to LPN school. They are not nearly as competitive. Then you can bridge to RN afterwords. Or maybe see how many classes you would need to graduate with a BS in something. Take those classes and get As so your GPA will go up, then apply to accelerated BSN programs. There are a lot of paths to RN, and if you really want it, you will find a way. Dont just keep going down the path that is getting you nowhere. make a new path. GL

Please don't give up, and like many others before me have already mentioned, try an ADN program, you'll still be an RN at the end and you could always do the RN - BSN bridge program. There's many ways to go around this, keep your head up, and keep fighting :) best of luck.

Any chance that you've listed a reference that may not be too complimentary??
That was my first thought as to why you're being passed over.
