I'm a new nurse, and I've been working on my floor for a year now. We are short staffed and by my understanding our hospital has a 'hiring freeze'. I would really like to switch to a casual position but I don't persay have a "good reason", it's just "personal" I feel very threatened by my co-workers , especially management. How can I approach this situation.

My advice is to go that manager where ever you want to work. We were in a "hiring freeze" when I got hired as an RN. If the the manager wants you, you will get that position.
I didn't even have to apply for my RN position.

Are threatened by your co-workers and management and that is why you want to go casual or if you go casual you will be threatened by them?
Most people change their status for "personal" reasons.
It's for personal reasons...but the reason I cannot bring myself to change my status is because I feel threatened.
