You need to check out the information in the International Forum. There are 'stickies' at the top that give you clear directions on both the licensure and immigration processes to work in the US.

Check out the sticky called Primer to working in the US. You will need to meet requirement of state board of nursing (BON) for foreign trained nurse which can take several months and once you are lucky to find an employer are affected by retrogression so looking at a few years. Suggest a good read here in the International forum

Retrogression is in place and has been since October, 2006. And all are under this in terms of getting a visa to work in the US. No country has preference over another. Everything is on hold for all.
You are unable to start the process for licensure here until you have an actual set of transcripts available to be submitted. Then add on the few years of waiting for the visa, so it will be quite easy for you to have experience, and that will be much to your benefit.
Best of luck to you.
